I think the use of opacity and texture in Painter's brushes really enhances you work, at least on a superficial level. Just sorta gives you even more to look at, y'know?

I spose'... painter x is alot more like, painting, than photoshop is. Photoshop is just drawing as far as im concerned. Quicky landscape, working off the same thumbnail as the other color one i posted recently, getting more of a hold for the way the brush works however i definatly need some variation.

Hmm, you're right. Both programs bring something a little different, like those nice clean lines in photoshop and that awesome subtle blue in the field thurr for painter. Jeez, digital painting is expensive.

Have you thought about which you're going to use for that Loue project? I still can't believe what a good idea that was. I wish I hadn't started mine so I could steal it. ;P

Oh! Btw (Jesus, this is turning into a long response), I tried sending you an email via conceptart, but...yeah, I'm kind of computer illiterate. Do you know the name of that nude life drawing open studio? The one that meets on Sundays? I'm getting out of practice.

Charcoal from today (incaminnati), alittle bit of photoshop doodling with the barontieri presets i downloaded.
The head of the charcoal drawing really bothers me, try as i may to prevent touching the paper, something is still getting in that paper and preventing the charcoal from being erased when needed. So, the face is a tone darker than everything else, and i couldnt draw any highlights out of it, and it is frustrating.

Hey Emmett great updates. How are you liking Painter in comparison to Photoshop? Just one tiny crit by the way, the face also seems a tad too small for the body. I've had similar problems with charcoal when it seems to dig itself into the texture of the paper and no matter how much I erase I can't get it out.

Hey daniel, thank yeh, 'long' time no hear from. To answer the photoshop to painter thing, ive spent far more time in photoshop and while the programs are similar i am more comfortable with drawing in photoshop. That said, painter is lots of fun, and ive been impressed with what ive seen in playing with it so far, it does a good job of simulating the traditional media experience, photoshop is more akin to drawing.
Tried drawing in photoshop the way i develop my charcoal drawings, used the last charcoal i posted as a mental reference. A doodle aswell.

Tried to cheer up some friends with some good-vibe speedy digitals, not much success there, but ive still got two heavily influenced landscapes to drop.

You got into the RISD summer program? Nice work, man! I would kill to get that oppertunity.

As for your newest landscapes, I can see what you mean when you were talking about new techniques for photoshop. It looks sweet -- keep it up.

Btw, that Charcoal But Not Really digital sketch looks sick. I actually thought it was charcoal at first.

your sketches are super clean I really like em. I think for those landscapes, even if you want to have them be all bright and happy you need to have some more value variation otherwise they look almost neon. This painting by Isaac Choi seems to be kinda in a similair vein, maybe check it out: http://isaacchoi.com/environement/image/09.jpg

Duely noted, i do need that contrast in there. Without it they are pretty boring.
Soo, two more... possibly wip's? we will see how today goes.

i like how the last one is turning out! - the life drawing stuff in charcoal is fantastic too! i know what you mean with the painter vs. photoshop game, but painter gets a little too hard to control for me. I find Open Canvas as a nice little go between. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1207101469 this would make an awesome vector illustration

Hey, thanks for commenting, helps keep the wheels turning...
Toffeeliz: Thank you! Ill check out the opencanvas thing, the more i learn about the different medium options in painter the easier it becomes to control...
Ash888: Thanks, probably have one more too drop before i disappear for july.
Ben_Olson: Really impressed by your sketchbook, thanks for coming by.
Mydrim: 17 this time next week, thank you.
Been doing bridgeman studies, large amounts of gestures and some small amounts of digi doodling. Here is some of the doodling...

frog and *BAM*: thank yeh , another charcoal here...

Once again, thanks for posting, keeps me moving.
Another charcoal drawing from yesterday, learned some new things in the process. Got a ds set up with colors!, which is alot of fun, annoying to transfer the images to my computer the way im set up however, afraid im going to snap that tiny stupid memory card, the last one of the colors pics is a team effort, myself, tyler steinbrenner and sarah lammer (left to right)... and sb doodles and crap bridgeman copy/studies.

Yo Emmit! Thanks for stopping by dood! Your shit has just be getting better and better in my absence.
In regards to our proposed collab: I haven't forgotten. I have three different starts on it and I'll send them your way. One of them I started by responding to one of the pieces you posted here. Do you have a high res version of the piece below? You can see roughly what I'm thinking of doing with it.

    Peace,
    Andy

You have some good stuff here.
    Your young right now,
You need to focus on the basics of anatomy first before trying to
    Figure draw.
