cool cool stuff man! I'd really love to see something completely finished from you. Doing all these quick and loose enviros is all nice but actually finishing one piece is really something different. being able to finish a painting is a skill just like anything else. It needs to be learned. Do it!

I like where that environment is going, man. right now my eye is drawn to the very left vanishing point though which is a bit too far off center if you ask me. maybe extend the canvas on that side a bit. anywayyy finish one of you enviros!!
and good faces and figures with the sketches. you're kicking it.

oh and this is awesome http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/dsrhdfgf.jpg!!!
give it a bit more canvasspace and foreground floor/elements at the bottom maybe. awesome clouds!!

now stop thinking and get back here!!
stop lazing out in the sun and draw. or keep drawing in the sun as long as you update !

great update, man! you're going places!

this very last character is amazing. your best so far for my taste! I especially like the headdesign. the surfaces look just a tad too similar. try and give his armor a bit more metal look, maybe just by having it jump to the stronger highlights with less smooth transitions than skin, or more contrast in itself. only nitpicking here though .

oh, and this is exceptional: http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...mountKopie.jpg
YESS to colors, energy and bold brushstrokes!

I give you some thoughts on the last piece as well if that's fine: love where you went since the sketch. The rendering on this painting itself is really good and works together nicely. what's bothering me is mainly compositional points.

First I think the left bright vanishing point is still distracting. it's pulling my eye away from everything important to the story of the picture like the monster and the two dudes eating the tentacle . the bridge leads the eye nicely to the monster, but at the same time takes away a lot with the very prominent diagonal through the center (and almost the whole picture) and with its (very well) rendered rocks.
the creature and action hotspot is cramped in the corner and not as detailed.
upping the contrast around the two front figures by placing them on bright sunlit grass is pretty good, I'd just give it a bit more space at the bottom to move them up in the composition. Also you could rearange the tentacle up front to curl back in the picture to not lead the eye to the bottom corner.
The scene you are depicting itself is really cool!! I like the idea of the two knights in front sharing meat of the creature that is still alive in the background.
To give it a more amazing feel you are talking about as I said move the creature a bit and make it still fight other figures. the third man in front of it and maybe a few more could be fighting the thing to get their own slice for the picnic. also that would make the front figures look a lot more bad-ass. they got their food first and just enjoy the show, while the others have to fight the monster that's more furious than ever.
would make a cool combination of big action scene and calmness as well.
    Pretty long post,

hope you don't mind, I made a snooverpaint because I don't know how much sense all this made.
    http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/4...ooverpaint.jpg

and of course my advise is always to be handled with care. I probably don't follow it myself very often. I'm no expert at anything and people might not agree with all I've written but maybe you take one or two ideas from it.

    cheers, buddy!

man your quick enviro stuff is STILL my fave part...maybe I just have a weakness for landscapes and how you are approaching them naw, they are great.

I really like the exploration of scale and depth in this one http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/Steppe-1.jpg

seriously got a good feeling when I saw it. the statue and rock on the right really pop. Perhaps you could inject even more color variations in some of the shadows, however that can be style choice.

Jakers hey dude, nice to see you stopping by yeah it's good to see them pop haha
about the thing i meant in your sb; i found this oneon your fine new site as a good example. i'm neither as good as you in drawing creatures nor in giving objects space, but maybe its a point haha what i was trying to say was, that if you compare birdi 1 and 2 my eye sees two different methods of showing a bird. in 1 you described the planes which go in space and give them form. but in 2 its hard to read for me how the form of the bird is. perhaps it is cartoony or a thumbnail, but from my point of view its better to do more strokes to describe the form then too less
hopefully you understand my blabla cheers bro !

P oh, welcome back man i'm glad you like it !

maybe i'll give him some color tomorrow
