Almost forgot to put ref in!

To be honest i used books from my own collection:
Osprey books, The Spartan Army, The Ancient Greeks, and Greek and Rome at war.

And Vercingetorix: Ancient Celts by concord

Don't want to risk getting disqualified.

Still not decided which one to do.

lord_regenschirm - that means you should do it!

so, after re-reading the instructions I picked Erik the Red however the images I found, didn't seem to be either historically accurate or enough, but his son Lief Ericson, their were plenty including the famous wardrobe with the bullet helmet and in stride... So I choose the son and with a bit of eventual red in the hair it will be done...

Did I get an account just to participate in this contest? ...Maybe.

Will I continue to lurk afterwards, like a creepy lurking thing? ...Probably.

Will this cure me of my inability to finish things? ...Hopefully.

    Anyway, I'ma do Beethoven.

Sheer numbers in the end. There are more historical figures that are recorded about that are male rather than female. It's sociological and a sad reflection of a patriarchal society that has dominated since recorded time and before. Symptomatic of the idealised portrayal of the female as muse rather than artist, as support rather than active participant, and as victim and not protaginist, or it could be to do with the fact that women in uniform just look GREAT!

I toyed with the idea of doing Bathory - the whole "male vanity" thing would have been a great character dynamic reversal. But in the end, I thought it would end up a wee bit too close to the recent Male Vampire Pin-Up challenge we just had, so I passed on it. But a fascinating historical personality...

Wow, first the "where the big boyz" comment in the CHOW 109 voting thread and now this? Way to make those who've posted feel like small potatoes!

I'm all for every skill level participating, but when someone posts a comment like this, I feel it's a bit insulting. Sorry our "guns" arent' big enough - maybe you should check out the Exclusive Sketchbook section - plenty of "eye candy" there for you to drool over if we can't satisfy you...

Mods, if this is not the place for my comment, feel free to edit/delete my post and replace it with happy smiley faces or fuzzy white bunny rabbits.

daestwen: No, i think this is perfectly fine. but here's some fuzzy bunnies anyway: *fuzzfuzzfuzz*

Or a female version of Gilles de Rais? Now that would be a bit challenging... (He fought alongside Joan of Arc and was executed as a multiple child killer. Bizarrely he is also a computer games character...)

He's in the PSP game Jeanne D'arc, he Kicked ass. Oh no! People know I own a PSP. It even has vader on it. Seriously though, that'd be interesting to see too!

No, you're fine. I'm a firm believer in you reap what you sow. And so far, mrdoom has decided place himself in a rather adversarial position with an otherwise open and welcoming community here at the CHOW table.

However, that said, I will *not* allow this to turn into a flame war.

Is anyone doing a male version of Marie Antoinette?

That would be a good idea for someone looking for a girl-to-man transformation.

Sorry Daestwen, I figured it was the other way around and that attaching was reserved for finished entries because of the server space or whatever. I'll fix mine right now.

It's okay if you host it on your own space, but hotlinking from other people's websites isn't really polite... eats up their brandwidth and might get us in trouble, so.
