DESCRIPTION
HISTORICAL GENDER BENDER

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

You must take one real historical figure from any period in history (up until 1950), and recreate that person in the opposite gender. You may place them in a different time period, a different planet, an alternative universe, -whatever you like - BUT you must make it recognizable as the person you are attempting to portray, using either costume, props, facial characteristics, whatever you can think of.

You can do this in whatever style you like, just again, make the historical figure clear and recognizable.

This is a research topic. Therefore, you must provide at least one link and three pictures (whether they be pictures, paintings, etc) of the historical figure you are portraying when you submit for the final burning. Anyone missing any of these will be disqualified!

(If you're having trouble finding reference, don't hesitate to pm me, and I'll try to help you out.)

The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday evening my time (GMT - 8 ) yet I'll have a look at the last entries.

About quality - as general rule: if your shapes and values are not decent - you are out. Watch proportions, perspective etc. we need perfectly readable shapes and coherent, consistent values.

It's Perfectly fine to do a figure that someone else is doing, but you better have different reference and pictures.

It depends who it is. You have to make a pretty good case for it... no gods, or anything like that, but you might be able to argue 'King Arthur' with me...

I considered Joan of Arc at the moment I read the topic, but for me the gender-bending should really do something to the historical and contextual dynamic - I think the fact that Joan of Arc was a woman to begin with was pretty extraordinary in that age, so to flip her and make her a male would make her like any other sword-wielding leader of the day.

However, the two that stuck out most in my mind, if you want to go the warrior-princess route, were Ghengis Khan and Attila the Hun...would love to see two strong Frazetta-style Amazonian warrior ladies gender-bent from their original source material...
