    Hi,

Here are some pages out of a recent sketchbook. These are out of a Moleskine. Each spread is about 10.5 inches wide by 8.25 inches high. These are mostly watercolors and various markers.

Let me know what you think.

hey man, love your sketches..but i was wondering what kind of sketchbook you did these on. I've been wanting to try some watercolor and other paints in mine but the pages wrinkle, but it doesn't seem like you have that problem in yours.

saw this earlier, thought id come back and leave a comment. i like your use of color in your mole skin, watercolor right? don't you find the pages 'buckle' a little tho? you should try dipping a bit of natural sponge in the paint and then in your book, it gives a nice texture that i think you could 'enhance' with a little pen work to really make these forms pop. keep it up dude ;-)

What are you using for color man? I'm starting to incorperate ink washes and thought maybe you could give me some pointers. PM or post in sketchbook!

Hey thanks for all the kind words everybody!

    thegnarofspaz:

I totaly get that but I guess I don't see it as a problem. It's neat when a sketch book starts to puff up and not close all the way.
The Moleskine stuff is on pretty heavy stock so it dosen't really wrinkel it does kind of warp though. The Batman stuff was drawn in a regular old black sketch book (maybe a canston). Those pages totaly wrinkle. I just squish it flat on the scanner and it doesn't really show.

    RandAlThor:

I hadn't ever tried the natural sponge thing. I'm a big fan of scott morse (http://scottmorse.blogspot.com/) so you'd tyhink I would have tried that by now. Thanks.

    Rabid:

Thanks! I copied that from a photo I found in a book about of taxadermied people. I use a set like this: http://www.winsornewton.com/products...&ProductID=643 They are pretty cheap and super portable.

Here's one of Frank King. I've never really read Gasoline Alley but I saw this photo and thought it was cool so I drew it. Then I tried drawing my dog but he wouldn't sit still.

Here are some from a little tiny moleskine. Each spread is only 7.25 x 5.5. These are mostly watercolor and brush pen.

Thanks! Nic Klein is awesome. I actually did the second one from the top after reading his tutorial. I use the Moleskine with the thick paper (around 100 lb.) but markers still soak through. The one that says "NORTATEM" actually says "Metatron" but soaked through to this side.

    Good God.

Nothing beats flipping through a sublime molskine like this one.
Every page is fantastic and breathtaking. Very skillful use of watercolor in gesture sketches.
