A little update on said work in progress.
A little update on said work in progress.
Very interesting, looking forward to updates!
Recommendations: Lay out your darks as fast as possible, that way you can get all the contrast figured out.
Use pressure sensitive opacity to smooth out your shading a bit.
Other than that, keep at it!![]()

i think it'd help out to lower the opacity on your brush and start doing some blending now.![]()
Thanks, moroi and drewfarr. I've actually been using a few low-opacity brushes, but I guess doing some more blending with them certainly wouldn't hurt.
Did another redesign on a creature of mine.
1. Before.
2. After.
I made a CA gallery. A crappy one, but a gallery nonetheless.

Updated the redesign.
So school finally started back up. And AP Art is going to be absolutely amazing. There's even going to be one day per week devoted to critiques. I definitely need to get more practices with good crits.
Here's a little experiment I did with colored pencils.
I'm digging this creature.character design you've got going, and the latest redesign is definitely a big improvement on the last. Your pencil shading is getting a lot better now, but make sure you leave a few places totally unshaded to keep some dramatic contrast.
Keep at it, this is getting better every time.

You're doing everything right. Keep at it and you'll be kick ass in no time. Kudos!

drewfarr: I'll definitely keep that into consideration.
sourgasm: Thanks, man.
Explosions of body details in those last posts, I'd suggest doing part by part sketches and then in the final sketch, reconnect them all and refine through more sketches. Line by line as your pencil makes contact with that paper, you're improving. Follow those artistic instincts, you're doing great.
Keep doing you

Vulgar-I'll definitely have to try that technique.
In any case, here are some little bitty sketches I did with colored pencil. And a dinosaur with guns and crap on it's back inspired by the script for Jurassic Park 4 (which supposedly actually has dinosaurs who can use weapons).
I'm thinking that the legs are a little bit too flimsy. Doesn't really give off the "Oh shiat, a dinosaur" feel I'm going for.
Some new stuff. Including a drawing of a daffodil someone asked me to do.
I'm working on a Mystery Science Theater-tastic notebook cover for AP Art. I'll send you guys a picture once it's at a near-finished stage.
I did some Photoshop work with one of the pictures I just posted. I'm rather proud of it.
keep working bud
you are improving
Updated the last picture a little more.

A WIP version of my sketchbook covers.
Or why you should never attempt to scan an image that has googly eyes and feathers on it. The first one looks really fantastic, so I'm partially blaming my scanner.
I'm personally more a fan of the last picture. I think that the creature drawing itself into life is intriguing.
Name withheld, of course.
haha i like the tentacled thing on the left in the first one. i see you do a lot of pencil work, have you tried ink?![]()
Hi Ninjacat11!
Keep on doing those anatomy studies, and try some gesture drawings as well. On that dinosaur sketch, the problem I see is that you drew his legs in a Humanoid style.. check some reference pics of dinosaurs and study them..
that should help.
Keep going, you are improving!

A mantis man.
Looks awsome but the wings look small. The weapons are cool.
I'd just like to say the dinosaurs with guns and lazers is awesome. keep it up.

Haven't updated in a while. I'm finally working on some stuff for AP Art. None of it's far enough along for me to show it off, but as soon as I'm done with it, you'll be the first-ish to see it.
As well, I have some sketchbook pages for AP Art.
A betentacled creature.
thats interesting ninjacat your musculature has defenatly improved from what i can tell, and your creature is very creative. on the previous page were you trying to do a comic or storyboard? it looked promising.
