Good work on that first plane. When drawing the figure try to maintian the same 3d quality as in those aircraft. Think of the sections and pay carefull attention on how the forms fit into each other. You do that in some places but others are left flat. The same goes for the hair. Think of it as a mass and not as individual hair strands. Keep on it bro!

You have a nice sketchbook going on in here. I like your vehicle sketches, those are coming along good. One crit i can offer is more with your characters than vehicles. On many of the sketches i'm noticing the linework is very fuzzy. Maybe try paying attention to the edges of the objects in the drawing. Like where the edge of a character's face meets the background or near the edges of fingers, the edges of cylinders, etc. I guess what i'm saying is once you know where a line is going to be, make a planned out stroke as precise as possible where you are paying attention to only the quality of the line and how it encloses whatever object your drawing. Make sure not to scratch that line in. It should make a lot of your designs read much clearer, and really help in the long-run. cheers'

Whole night too myself and again i wasn't very productive but i on the plus side i was more productive than last time i had a night off work, played with some different medias some successful some not, no real break trough's just some studies, investigations of things that were puzzling me and some fun.

I did pretty poorly sick/cold/out of practice and just generally not into it, tried copying values but the light setup isn't the best so some areas were confusing and yea i know there pretty distorted in proportion.The model was doing some interesting poses but and one stage she was doing a spread eagle on here head??? i was just glad i was positioned viewing her back when she took that pose.

bloody hell, if you feel crappy you should try distorting things have fun with it. I can never concentrate when I'm sick. Spread eagle on her head you say? sheeeit!

Hybrid_75:Heh ta mate, yea distortion is kick ass fun i love the book called Force would be great to draw figures with that much rhythm and direction and try and get the same effect with paint. One day i will be able too one day... Yup spread eagle is what i said, i had to suppress the giggles, i guess it wasn't a full spread eagle as here knees where bent, couple of the faces of people on the other side of the room where classic when she stop moving and decided to keep the pose.


So wish i studied perspective harder a long time ago i am starting to see that i have been doing things the hard way for way too long... so i am going to become a perspective master and then put it too the side.. drawing a face is so much easier when you can figure out foreshortening in depth with points rather than guessing on what you think looks correct. Known for a long time i needed too improve my perspective knowledge but i decided too be a lazy tool and ignore it instead SUPER!!!.

I really like those last sketches. Doing those technical drawings helps a lot when you come back to those figures right? I can see lots of improvements in your values. Keep studying more from Loomis. Don't be afraid to add some black here and there to push the contrast. I think it's time for you to start studying drapery to put some clothes on your figures so they don't have to run around naked. Keep up the good work mate!!

wow, i see alot of inprovment in your latest work, nice.....keep it up buddy.
maybe it would be helpfull to change your medium? ink for example? this could theach you more about using hard lines. some of your stuff looks a bit blury sometimes.

I went trough your sketchbook and you really improve a bit each post .. keep it up and don't loose your goal in view and keep drawing this is the secret for becoming better. Try some enviroments too.. base yourself on images and try doing them in photoshop or whatever program your using. (btw sorry for the english)

Those last drawings are looking a bit too distorted. Again, always doublecheck your proportions before you jump to the details. Also that last head is lacking volume. I did a crappy paintover to show you what I mean. Try constructing your figures the same way you construct those aircrafts and cars. Focus on the basic forms first and then push and pull the surfaces to get the finished look you want. Good luck!

fantasyartist: Ta mate yea too right the technical perspective help tons and i am not even good at it yet it just cuts out allot of guess factor that is usually involved and its surprising how loosely you can check points in space and pull it off, i always imagined technical drawing more along the lines of wasting time with compasses and t squares.

Yea you caught me distortion seems to attack me badly when i approach a sketch very lazy like and i am afraid laziness is one of biggest flaws that i am trying to overcome sure i might sit done for hours and draw lots but i probably only do a minute here and there of really productive progressing drawing. thanks for all your suggestions as usual dude don't worry i am not ignoring them but you may suffer a few more weeks of nuddies running around my sketchbook before i get into drapery again as perspective and values are still a major concern of mine at the moment later dude ill reply tomorrow to your latests sketch when i have more time.


TheBeast: thanks mate i have played with ink before i am not certain it would help me with exploration sketches but it sure is fun i have a play soon post up the results.

looking good man, you're working hard dude, even if you say you're being lazy. I would say when you draw your poses, make sure you keep the overall shape/silhouette in mind. check it before you to town on it. I like that textured ball thingee. what is it? I dunno what it is it looks cool though.

Those last faces are looking nice, but go easy with those features! You draw them way too big for the face sometimes. Don't put a harsh line on the lower eyelid when lighting the head from above. Just be patient with those sketches man. It's hard I know.
