    Life, cityscapes, etc.

They say, before you can draw a believable concept art from your head, you should absorb from real life, as much as you can, in order to build up your own reference library. So I grabbed my laptop and started a series of quick city sketches. I hope to show some improvement in this sketchbook.

    The short setup video:

I really like the first one. Nice texture, and it's loose without being too sloppy. The second one's a little hard to make out. Be sure to draw people from life also (unless you're really into environments...) Keep up the good work!

Thanks elemental the night scene was a bit hard for me to figure out, especially the cars.
I'll try to go to a crowded place to do some basic figure studies too.

Today I was giving my gf driving lessons, and while we were driving around, we discovered this power plant hidden in the middle of the city. I painted it in about an hour and the sun went down in the first 20 minutes, so I had to finish it from memory. I played with Levels and Unsharp mask a little, when I got home.

Painted on the way home, the view was blocked by other trucks several times, had to catch the scene fast:

Messing with Painter at home this time, this program can be the greatest tool if learned properly, but still such a pain:

Nice idea and sketches. I need to drive somewhere with my laptop and tablet to do these. Now, if only my tablet driver would install properly

    Video was nice too

Great kind of exercise. I would like to do it but my laptop battery last ten minutes... Do you plug your computer to your car's power supply?
How long does it take you to complete one of those pictures?

@revenebo: no more than 1 hour, because of constantly changing conditions. One battery charge per sketch.

Spent Labor Day weekend in a small town with an industrial waterfront. Here's the result, I wish I spent more time on that sketch and used different brushes instead of regular ones.

Hey! Very admirable painting work you have here. I love your brushstrokes and how vibrant everything is. And how you've even simplified the most complicated details to something clear and economical.
I think I'll drop by here more. *subscribes*
