Welp, my computer gave the official “fuck you” and froze, taking the file of this pic to the oblivion of unexpected end of files. The irony here is that this photo of my screen looks better than some of the stuff I scan and save deliberately...

I'm still just going nuts about the effects in this movie, especially stuff like how the bad guy's sclera and pupil seem to change both colour and value from gold to light gray when his eyes are in the shadow, it's so subtle and yet so great. I really hope that the art book also goes through all these effects because fff I just want to know about those.

Yes, it's a refined digital sketch, with paints under it.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing with your current skill set right now? Working as an inhouse illustrator or designer for a company? Or freelance? Or something else entirely?

hey, i love your nickname you have been doing a really good work, and is a good thing that you are not just focusing on cute stuff, i encorage you to do more of the realistic stuff too, and maybe some more grotesque stuff.

I'm an inhouse game artist doing iOS games (as I also studied doing games), and I occasionally do freelance illustrations and comics on the side.

Conversation with Smaug. I never really cared for the original illustration (Tolkien's illustration which was in the cover of the Finnish Hobbit) because it just didn't have any feel of "oh shit I'm in a hall with a huge dragon oh god". Understandable, but something I wanted to try myself for Fanart Friday.

Download digital inks? You mean do I scan my traditional inks?
In any case most of my ink work is completely digital but for example the ones in post #981 are traditional.
