i have a feeling that a lot of your best works use a mixture of brushes, or stroke techniques. some of the frustration you're feeling might be fixed with the age-old technique "putting it away for like a day or two then coming back to it". your line technique is very expressive. newbie here: have you tried inking traditionally recently?

Actually I only use one brush for pretty much all of my work and I don't have any stroke techniques that I consciously know of. (then again I don't know what is my "best work" either, and in any case we'll most likely disagree)

Well as you can see, the previous traditional ink was done last week, however I don't really do finished traditional inks anymore since I can't scan them in a resolution that would allow me to colour them properly.

(0 H0) I tried to quote an image of yours but I couldn't do it right. the big hairy boar one you did I thought was pretty good, it had small brush strokes for details while also using broader ones for shadows and deeper values. also your mechani-gore hornse used a lovely ink weight to show it's shadows and highlights. I think that one in particular looks so complete because of the level of intricacy involved; more lines were spent on defining the tubes and pulleys (or whatever mechanics inside that thing). in many of your human-ish characters, your lines are very brief. I would consider... hm, not necessarily adding more, but making the ink do more... if that makes any sense :/\/\/ like a couple dashes to continue a contour somewhere or expressive hints at wrinkles, something to continue he flow of expression beyond the bare minimum of features. or just a simple a stylistic addition! I dunno. does any of this make sense?

There's this... lack of something in my figures. I don't know the word for it, but it's the.. space. Things in my drawings aren't in space.
Everything's flat, there's no sense that say, that one elbow in the second to last pic would be closer to me, or that it would be above the other body parts or there would be space between them. Or that the hips in the last pic would be further in the space than the knee. I noticed that today and now it's driving me nuts.

This guy has some really good videos that describe good ways of getting depth into your drawings. When you can, start from the beginning of his videos.
