Couple things I made in photoshop as practise. They're kind of smudgy though. I would prefer they were crisp and smooth. Any suggestions?

Well I dunno if you want to pay attention to me ...or you can keep replying to spambots.

The reason your drawings are like that has less to do with photoshop right now than it appears you're just learning.

For one though, hard round brush and getting used to the pressure sensitivity is one way to start.

Do some just basic technique exercises. The "Those 'Can't' Draw" thread is a good spot

But really working from both traditionally with a pencil and paper to work on your drawing will help you digitally too. To keep your drawing strong it starts with working with good foundations and building them.

Don't stop drawing for one. You have to make the mistakes to learn from them. Also look at other parts of the forum like Fine Arts for advice and inspiration.

So basically I kind of messed up my science degree so I need to become an artist real quick to fund my dream of being a science student.

It'd be interesting to see the effect of structured technical study since I haven't done that at all, my entire current ability is practically held up by my hyperactive imagination. I'm getting a largish book on perspective to work through really soon. I see a lot of people do photo studies and stuff like that but I'm really not sure I can sit still for long enough. I do have a lot of free time for a few weeks though, so anything is possible.
