now with some steps - nsfw

Go to the last page for better stuffs!

Time to stop lurking and start a sketchbook (you might have heard this line before)

Little about me self! - after school I studied 3 years of fine art and actually graduated but I was so not into the whole gallery scene where technique and skill had nothing to do with being a success. Gave up on art and traveled over seas and such. About a year ago i decided it was time to get back into it (bout the same time i found this gloriuous site )

I've been trying to draw / paint everyday - as well as trying to learn digital paint - not really aiming for a concept artists (wanna do a comic but....) just want to improve as an artist.

So some works to start off on (sadly mostly referenced from photos as i dont have cash for models and live in a town devoid of an art scene)
Some paints done in Painter and some sketches! Mostly portraits at the moment 'cos im trying to make some cash of doing peoples portraits

hey man, thanks for stopping by my SB. this is a great sketchbook you got here. i guess i can critique some of your work. some of the portaits are really good but they lack the softness and lighting, but your shades are good. i would say work on the lighting effect, the trick is what to put in and what to leave out. best of luck

wow, so many studies! values are looking good there
but please don't simply copy them, you also need to focus on anatomy i think. do some loomis or vanderpoel (!!) studies, understanding the basic proportions will make everything easier for you.

the colors in that discjockey piece are freaking amazing, id love to see more of stuff like this.
    keep it up!

pencil1 - Thanks Dude! I do anatomy studies and stuffs all the time but on junky scrap paper so when I scan them they look dodge. Will do some on good paper to post tho.

l0stinth0ughts - Thanks man, not sure what U mean here but I am trying to get some soft glows and stuff. Painting from life would probably make the differance

atlantik - Thanks glad U like!

    ItalianHorsey - Thanks too man!

algenpfleger - Thanks for the comment man, like I told pencil1 I do those but don't post em due to quality. They have big blobs of grey and backwards writing on em. I do have the loomis books but will look for vandperpoel. I did 3 years of anatomy and life drawing when I was at art college but lost it a bit after not keeping up with my art practice!

    And more stuffs:

Much appreciation for posting in my SB. I really should try and do more finish works but there are two things holding me back. I don't know HOW! and lately I'm more concerned with the idea than the product.

At any rate...I took a look through your SB and think your portraits are awesome! You def. have a good feel for colour. The only weak thing I saw is that some of them flattened out due to a lack of modelling/tonal range.

Your figures aren't very strong, I think you could use some practice drawing them in a variety of poses to make your proportions consistent. However, what they lacked in anatomical correctness, they made up for in imaginative costumes.

Woah! Super environments - looking really nice. I think you might need to do a few simple Vanderpoel studies on face - they look great but feel too feature driven (as in, the features stand out a lot and kill the feeling that they are on the face itself).
