Yuss! First one in with a crit, I get a MAKE OUT SESSION! Wooop!
All tongue, all the time baby!
Ha, anyways, here's my paintova. My anatomy isnt great but heres what i wasnt liking about yours - your chest seems flat / collapsed. I talked to you about this once before... but here it is visually. Really feel that barrel shape of the chest, and push that shoulder back behind it. Unless he's rounding his shoulders (which isn't too hero pose is it?).
Also thinned up the wrist of the near arm a bit. The whole arm looks too big compared to the head, but the propprtions seems right? Confused, so i thinned up the wrist. Think it helped a little. Then I just popped the shoulders a bit more, they were getting dominated by the traps, making him seem slump shouldered, or just less powerful. So i popped em up a little so they are a bulge above the join with the traps.
Thats my two cents
Kiss time![]()
Hello, A quick update before i go to bed. Replies to all you beautiful people very soon. Thanks so much for your comments, i really appreciate it.
Matty: Thanks heaps man, that helped a lot. Ill post the final in a couple of days.
Heres a character ive been working on for the last few days, from personal project/folio piece based on the Brother's Grimm story 'the four clever brothers'. I hope to have another one of these done in the next few days.
This is the brother who learns the valuable trade of thievery.
Chur.
edit. updated after feedback, thanks

nice clothing on that last one, it's a little difficult to see what's going on under all that drapery, but I get the feeling his arms are too long.
Diggin' the Ditch?
Great work I agree that the arms look long and the right hand looks a bit flat. I love the animal/people series and the way you do a page layout... also the portrait of your lady friend is my fav. I wish you had finished her shirt -- this is one of your strongest pieces and deserves special attention -- amazing work you do!!!

hey dude nice stuff. i love that painting of the guy fishing off of that walking oriental style house. on that last one, i agree with what others have said, his right arm looks a little off. i think the arms may be too long or the shoulders may be too high. i like the design of the character, keep it up
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Ive updated the last post with (hopefully) your guys suggestions (saves having the same picture in here twice). That arm was always bugging me, its good to get told to change it.
ditchman: thanks heaps man, ive tried to lighten it up a little, hopefully you get some idea of more bags under there? Definitely right about the arms, cheers dude.
kelly x: Cheers, Really appreciate it. Do you think i should put in the shoulders and everything in that portrait, or just at something to that undershirt. I could give it a go sometime. Or maybe try another one.
Mydrim: Thanks a lot, I think you said that on the last page. hahahha, thanks man, hope you keep visiting.
Pyroclasm00: Thanks for the crit dude, i tried to take it all in, i think it helped alot lowering the shoulders some, and i've tried to fix up that hand.
Time to start one of the other brothers. this time the Star-Gazer.
I like last one, design is very nice

Must come here more often.
Loving your old life studies. I will try & study those myself![]()
Wonderful work Law
, very inspiring
wow i'm really in love with those character designs!
Really cool stuff man, I especially like the golden compass one you did of the person riding the polar bear. I noticed on alot of your work the background was distracting, but on this one you blended much more and it really worked well. Also the design of your darks on this one is very tight, wheres in some of the others the edges are sort of choppy(something I do alot of). I think your well on the right track, and that walking house thing is awsome, keep it comming man.

Hello again, Thanks for the replies fulla's! always good to see some traffic through here.
Been doing some quick tonal/painting studies over the last few days, thought i'd throw them up (the studies are originally from Mullins, Wu, and i think a Mr.Blonde?). Should give them a bit longer really, but i get bored. Plus a few days worth of posemaniacs. I usually quit without saving these, but its nice at have a log how your going every so often. These are from the last couple of weeks.
Ill scan some sketchbook pages one day soon too.
omgitsduane: nah they're not not done in flash, just brushed indian ink, and photoshoped colour.
Oranje Joe:Cheers dude, i hope to get a few more of these done soon. Maybe some landscapes with the same process. Hopefully i can do that somehow? Subscribed aye? i better try work harder!!! Thanks again
lilnebo: Awesome comment dude, thanks a lot. Ill try keep it up.

brentos8: Cheers man, your right about everything you said there. I didnt even know about edge control back then, and now that i know about it, i still cant use it. but when it pops into my head i try and give it go. It all about learning those basics aye. I just gotta keen reading.
wookiedabo: Sweet, thanks for coming by.
Cheers Guys,
Lawton
Some very strong work here.
All I can add is keep posting and have fun.
my sketches here... http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92997
www.sevans.co.nz , visit them or a puppy dies!
if i had to pick a favorite, it would be the last one in the third to last row
it has an almost mystical sense to it
also, did you add the hair? or are the last couple poses not from posemainiacs?
So where is your return from the lurking good sir? You could put up that killer self portrait for a start...?
I am lovin those thumbnails.![]()
Wow, I am just getting into this whole art thing. How old are you and how long have you been drawing seriously? I love your figures! Hard edges and machines come easily for me so I give up easily on envoronments and figures!
You are inspiration!
Do a lot of work and your work will be as good as your ambitions.

I'm not going to be very useful but I wanted to say that I really enjoy your character design and the way you render. Seeing them alongside with the research/sketches is also really great, you had a whole lot of good ideas to choose from!
Great work!

Your character designs are strong, your gesture studies are energetic and smooth. Not much to critique! However I would suggest more digital portraits or face studies, simply because some of your characters have somewhat sharp angular faces and you use large hard brushes that make them look somewhat incomplete. Loving the characters so far though.
