No, I'm useing a pencil with just about everything I draw, but when I scan them In I reduce them to e-mail size, and that always makes them look fuzzy.

I haven't figured out how to scan them im and keep the sharpness without going over the file limit...Because everything that you see is actually 8 by 11 inch paper. I just shrunk it down.

Allright, trying out my ability to paint, have to say its quite the learning experience. I proabley shouldn't have picked such a large subject to paint. I wonder if I'll ever get it finished! >.<

Yea, it did! But, unfortunitley for you you didnt crit my two images up there, so I must hunt you down, and shoot you... lol

Ok, quality got knocked down, but I think this is were I'm going to keep this picture a while. I'll be doing some metal painting studies, and maybe some other stuff.

The third best piece of advice I ever got (art related anyways) was: "Always give a head a convincing size and shape to show the skull underneath". Neither of these guys have a convincing head shape to make me think they have a human shaped skull. But the good news is that they're not far off. The proportions of the heads are just a little wack.

The guy in the grey shirt should have a sllightly higher skull-dome. People's eyes are situated half way between chin and top of head, so his are too high up for the skull he's been given. The guy in the blue shirt on the left should have a larger braincase behind his ear. It's too rounded in too sharply - Your ear is only a little bit more than half way back in real anatomy.

Hope that's some help, keep drawing. I'm looking forward to the metal paints...

Meh, I was gonna post another quick paint, but I dont wanna stuff my SB up with worthless half-done stuff all the time, so I'll wait longer before I post it. But in the mean time if anyone has any advice on makeing surfaces look shiney or reflective please send the info my way!

My advice to you is that your jumping into digital stuff to soon.
You need to learn how things are built, how they move, and how light reflects on them.
Your just wasting your time doing digital painting without the understanding of what you are doing. Spend some time working on your basic skills, don't rush things.

As for the painting above, what do you want me to say.
Every single piece of artwork that you produce, without the knowledge of how to build it
will look wrong. Its a kin to trying to build a house without knowing how to put it together.
You must understand that the most important thing that any pro must practice is patience
and understanding for what ever direction they take in there career.

Hey Vhan Juju, I don't really know you, and you probably don't know me either, (lol) but I kept seeing your name in the lounge/art discussion, so I decided to take a look see.

I'm not a great artist, but I agree with "patience is the key."

Well from here, it looks like they were all done pretty rushed. (the last one's better, but could still use some love.) I used to have drawings like that too, long time ago, but when I started working longer, I felt more satisfied with what I did, and It felt more accomplishing when I was done.

Here's a quote that helped alot:

Sorry Humanature, I did promise a metal study! Digi painting is fun, but I have been spending time in other skethbooks, and I need better foundation work...dang.

Ok, a little update, you proabley wont see me much around the forums, or uploading much, this is my last day at school, and I will be limited on my internet acess, but the good news is that when I do upload there should be some real improvements!

Ok, first things first.
ALL artist need to practice, practice, practice. Foundations are so important. I had to take steps back and work on mine for instance. Already I and fellow ca-ers see improvement. But I truly don't see anything wrong with drawing digitally. Do some studies from ref and life. it helps too.

Ok, thanks Chris for the second opinion. This is a digital grayscale I did, AFTER I did the same exersise with paper and pencil, maybe I'll scan that later in too, but I dont know. it was a lot of fun!

Ok, here is the paper, and pencil version, took me about 4 hours, to my two and a half or so on my digital one.

Well I would suggest working on your lines first. Wait a little with the rendering and so. Just keep working on the lines and creating form as simple as possible

Ok, I have absolutley no acess to a scanner, and I can't even afford a sketchbook right now, so my drawing is being performed on the back of receits from the gas station (go figure)

But I am still working on my art...so hopefully one day I'll get to show off my inprovements!
