The procession of the consternated cat... An interesting ritual, the original significance of which has long since been lost. Of course, that doesn't stop the Padongs of Pangoo from observing the thing, right down to the most miniscule detail, once every Cyrimbalese year.

Aplogies to anyone who has already viewed this image on my earlier "Great Googly Moogly!" thread. The thread had no thumbnail pic, and, as anyone who's ever gone fishing will tell you, casting a hook without a worm is likely to be a complete waste of time. I aim to close the other thread down, once I've transferred the previously posted pics over to this thread.

Appointed to his time-worn course, ne'er swerving left or right; the aeons past behind him now, a finger's trace in light.

His faithful presence throughout time, his cheer with men to share; his guiding beacon in the night, his simply being there.

But down he's come, no more to glow, with countenance now dark; the face that beamed upon us all has lost its cheerful spark.

Oh why have you abandoned us, in shadows now to wallow, when we are wont to look to you, your guiding light to follow?

'The simple truth', the moon replies, 'it pains me to relate; but you have stabbed me to the heart, with lies and greed and hate.

My life and light ebbs from me now, my days are surely numbered; I'll no longer look upon your deeds, and with your badness be encumbered'.

Those gathered there in silence fell, the moon's words now to ponder; could it be that he has watched us all, from his station way up yonder?

Our wicked deeds, our selfish acts, our cruelness beyond measure; must the toll be paid this way... must we lose our glowing treasure?

Some wandered off, their minds confused, others stooped to pick up stones; their senseless heads so filled with hate, it gnawed upon their bones.

And so the moon's life reached its end, far below his spacious home; no more to tread his celestial course, no more the heavens to roam.

But somewhere there's the memory, of a sentinel, bold and bright; his guileless heart so pure and good, his trust so surely right

And where that memory lingers, there also rests the will, to raise up high that faithful one, and all his hopes fulfil.

Thanks Jess. As regards the number of hits you get on this site... yeah, it does seem a little bit slow, especially since it's such a well established thing. I'm more used to posting work on the ImagineFX site, and the way it works is that every new piece that's posted appears for a period of time as a thumbnail, plus your most recently posted piece will appear quite regularly on a rotating front page in the galleries section, and that tends to encourage other posters and browsers to look in on your gallery pages. I've no doubt this site has a much bigger member base, but I suspect the vast majority of them are dormant.

Well, what can I tell you about the Mungobian Snottle...? They're oblipovaporous, as if you wouldn't have guessed. They come from Mungob, obviously. They're brilliant at yumpling, as well as virtually any other kind of poonpoi pursuit that you can think of. They build enormous strumpling machines, to keep the bungpottles away, especially the big sticky ones with blue bottoms, which they really, really hate. They definitely don't like Blimblots. Ummm... What else...? Oh! and they love to dance.

Thank you Flamable. I'm a great fan of the golden age illustrators, like Rackham, Dulac, William Heath Robinson, John Hassall, Hermann Vogel, etc, and I try my best to capture even just a little bit of the magic they had in their work. I know I'll never be in the same league, but it's good to study their techniques. There's a lot can be learned from studying the work of the engravers, too.

Of course, this isn't just any old Bongjob; this is Touhumple Doi, pilot of the Wangdangdoodle, and Googly's most trusted right hand man. The ball he holds in his hand is actually a Ball Being, otherwise known as a "Bloot". Bloots are protoplasmic noduloids, fairly intelligent creatures... in their own peculiar way.

Ok, it was late, and I was tired, and...

Now here's something that doesn't turn up every day... a two splengs Hambandy sepia... one of the rarest little philatelic gems ever to have graced an envelope. Or, perhaps we should say in this case, never to have graced an envelope! That's Horace Hubgubby's fizzog on the front, as if you wouldn't have known, and I don't suppose I need to tell you why it is that this particular stamp was to become such a rarity. None were ever issued or franked, of course, due to the scandalous circumstances which led to Horace's fall from grace. This particular specimen, one of only three that are known to have survived, is held in the vaults of the Pitchporum national archive.
