Hey er' body, the name is Lalilulelo, but you can call me Lolly, or Kevin, and I post here every once in a blue moon.
Recently I've felt like my life is stagnating, and I'm not making art with the same...frequency/intensity/fervor that I was the same time last year. I try to keep on it but part time jobs are a bitch. Starting here I'm trying to refocus my priorities with getting somewhere with my art.

My buddy, and forum regular JessiBean coaxed me into posting here more regular and seriously trying to become a part of the community here, and I was powerless against her charisma and personal magnetism, greater only that my own, I must say. Following her imperative, I'll start a sketchbook and slowly work my way around the forum's sections. So, here's my drop in the bucket. Please lemme know.
The comic pages are from a book me and some friends are working on titled Sanctuary: Hope is not yet lost. Issue 1 hits shelves in March, Diamond is carrying it of course, so if you frequent a comic book store, ask them to order some please. I'm the artist, my buddy Brian does the scripting (but we all collaboratively made/make the story and plot). The rest is just personal work that I try to get out as often as possible (not often enough, I think). Art's my passion, so please give me all you got, I want to push myself but I can't do it in a vacuum.

A lot is from the comic book (support us, it's awesome), and more is from just personal work. Note that a lot of the jpegs from the comic are older first drafts so a lot of the reaaallly distracting lettering and sound effects aren't in it anymore.

Great color work in the comic. There are a few anatomy issues and facial structure problems, but those will be worked out in time, especially if you're doing a comic (monthly? quarterly?), but just keep an eye on them.
It says you have 70 posts, but if you're new to the forums there are a lot of places where you can find any imagineable help on any subject of art.

Thanks for noticing meeeeee!! And thanks for the feedback. Some of those comic pages are from 2006 (trips me out that it's been that long) and some are from first quarter 2007, so I've grown, but it's hard to tell cuz I haven't been as active as I'd like to. But I'm relatively familiar with 'the forum's infrastructure', I just haven't been a regular here and am trying to get into the habit of posting and contributing.

wow, cracking start to a sketchbook, I do hope you'll keep up the good work and continue to post, yay for jessibean getting to you contirbute! I really like the sense of composition and pacing in a lot of the comic panels, most of them change enough to remain visually interesting... I particularly like this one: Comic Panel for the guy's hair, it has me mesmorised! I like the way you link a lot of the panels with colour too. Some of the stand alone pieces feel a tad unfinished in comparison, perhaps simply because they are stand alone. The use of the thinner, scratchier lines can sometimes get distracting, giving more contrast and visual pointers where perhaps none is needed, such as in the background of the lady and the tiger, and the hair of the battle-ready girl a couple below that. It does work nicely on the concept of the sword-wielding guy with the feathery-looking shoulderguards and trim.

All in all a great start to a sketchbook, and I look forward to seeing more!

oh man great sketchbook! one thing i love is the awesome cinematic effect of it, mind you, if you look at most comics (marvel, dc, whatever) they dont have that feel. Aside from people like Alex Ross, it generally isnt easy to do comics every month that way. so its pretty awesome how you are displaying your images in your frames. they almost look like storyboard panels. the only thing you need to work on is keeping your facial structure and other anatomy correct but that'll fix itself the more you draw. SO KEEP IT UP MAN! it looks awesome!

ps. and i know alex ross doesnt do monthly comics

Sup, Beelow, how you been?
Here's something I just started tonight. It's pretty late and I'm about to pass out momentarily, so it's just a color composition, but I try to squeeze some fun stuff in between comic pages (not that I don't enjoy the comic, but ya know), and flipping through old sketchbooks, I decided to try a shot at the four seasons. Here's a real rough color comp of 'Spring'.

excellent start for a sketchbook man.The comic pages are a bit confusing and rought in some places, but i love the colors and use of light, and some panels are really spectacular.
The tiger warrior is real cool, but her "skirt" blends with the tiger too much.Really nice work on the SP (and the powa rangers one )
