    Dred&Bass

Character Promo for a 2D action adventure demo im currently working on "Dred & Bass". as a blind now urbanite samurai I wanted to try and capture an enlightened attitude towards his disability, not considering it a weakness or carrying a stereotypical posture. With a stone cold silence included in the top left...
The dragon in the back is the demonic transformation of Dred's master in the games narrative, so by adding him to the background I wanted to try and include some sort of character history while using it too create a more eastern inspired image.
I created the image using my standard methods of compositing illustration and painting over it using photoshop, the dragon scales were quickly created in Freehand and then pasted where needed. (probbably could have done it using a texture but thats how I did it O_o)
Any Critique is very welcome, would generally like to know how well this works for people visually. (ask yourself "if based on this image alone you would play this videogame?")

The 2nd Character Promo Image for my Indie game project "Dred&Bass". This character is essentially a parody of the typical agent types you might find in allot of horror themed games (resident evil for example). Originally based as a wild western cowgirl i have since tweaked her design into something I think is allot more elegant. While trying to make the image as loud as possible I also wanted to include some sort of Le fem, hence the smoke vines with flowers.
This was a painted character illustration.
As always critique very welcome, and again as a promotional piece for a videogame how well do you think it works?

    Cheers

i think the backgrounds ask for more attention than the actual subjects... if you'd tone them down i think the images would work way better

I agree with Hyver. I really like the style you're going for, but I would recommend fading the backgrounds down a bit. They have so much energy that its hard to tell where they stop and the foreground characters start.

I only agree with the above on the second picture. It took me a minute to find the character amongst all the action going on plus color choice of Dred&Bass. The samurai has an awesome and unique style. I'd just suggest changing the tones of the backgrounds to not match the characters so much
    Unique style btw, anime-esque.
