i justed checked your age after koshimes post. /falls over dead and gives up art. Amazing to have reached such skill levels by such a young age. Very inspiring, Congrats!
Absolutely love how you manage to convey a certain level of "looseness" with everything from your brush strokes, to color variation and rendering and still somehow manage to keep everything unified and in check. Fuckin sick. keep at it ! i appreciate your posting...cheers,
Stani
Heh. The one thing semi old farts like myself try to console ourselves with that, although there will always be artists of incredible mastery of light/colour and composition, the core design skills and experience are uniquely our own. (i.e there will always be someone faster, younger, technically brilliant....what does the older, or aging warrior take to heart...)
God help us all when jaime combines all master elements of solid design, colour, lighting, composition and looseness with sensitive experience.
Looking at the current speed, that horizon of godpaint sainthood is probably not too far off, I'd say 2-3 years for the true title of master of arts (character/enviroments)
I look forward to this grand celebrated achievement
hey cicinimo nice digi paintings, great sketches.
keep posting

yet it's pleasure to die tis' way
i have 1 question though - how do you make your brushstrokes look so shrarp? when i try to use pastel like brushes it tends to get all smudgy, giving me watercolor effect...definitely not the one i wanti adore that rough effect of your paintings

Hey, really appreciate the comments and kind words here.
To answer a couple questions:
Dian3: email me at jaime at artpad.org and I'll send you my brushes
kveye: I make my brushes so its pretty easy to get hard edges. Having a hierarchy of edges in a painting will also make your sharp areas look that much sharper. The sharpen tool also helps, but I probably overuse that one.
Been busy with work stuff lately, not much time for painting. I scanned some drawings though (zzzz). Last one is a from a set of Vanderpoel copies that I'm doing, others are from life, 1-20 minute poses.

The paintings themselves are absolutely stunning, yet my favorite part of them are the moods, every painting tells a story. Nothing more to say but brilliant really. 5 stars
!!
P.S. I wasn't sure enough that such a painterly quality can be achieved by using Photoshop until I saw your work. Amazing.
This truly is great. Love your lines. They have a scary accuracy, and a lovely flow. Thanks for sharing!
