As frightened of this forum as I am, I decided I should probably just suck it up and post stuff. So here goes: (No scanner right now, so I apologize in advance for the crap pictures)

Omg great charcoals.
On the first one his waist just seems a little bit out of proportion though.
i so know how you feel!
its really intimidating because of all the amazing art here.
but we just gotta keep at it.
i like the 5th image, it has a nice mood/feeling
great start to the sketch book man.
ok, so i imagine you came here for some crits, so i will do it.
the first guy's head feels a little small, but the rest is solid
the girl on the couch has a 50 mile stare like you killed a hooker in your living room or used a poser model for the shot
my favs are the guy tangled up and the girl twisting
the last girl is good, but you could pop the contrapusto (SP?) a lot more. even if someone is standing straight you should try and exadurate the pose. it will give your work a lot more character. real people are stiff, and when imitated for some reason the human eye expects exaduaration.
great start to the thread, cant wait to see more.
ps, that is about as bad as a crit is ever gonna be here, and it is always little things to make you better so you can learn and help along other people as well
i like ur style of drawing 1st & 3rd pic... too cool
You got some nice studies there. Keep doing then and you'll see lots of improvements!
Keep it up man!
Just wondering how this looks to fresh eyes before I continue or finish. If anything looks disproportional, or shadows are wrong...If there are any suggestions on armor or spaulders...and the helmet, those are things I don't usually draw, help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello there!
Nice studies!
As for the girl from the last post:
Lovely skin tones, her body looks solid. I have difficulties with colors, so I really like Your choices
However I think there's something wrong with proportions of her upper body. Everything looks good from the breasts down, but above them it feels like everything is too small. Too small head, too short neck and shoulders too low ( meaning there's too little space between her shoulders and breasts) I also think her hands may be a bit too short, though I'm not sure, because it may be caused by her too low placed shoulders.
That being said, I'm not an expert in anatomy, I just wrote what seems wrong to me. So I may not be correct, but at least You know what to check
Keep working, and show us more![]()
It doesn't cost You much to leave a comment in my sketchbook, and it can help me a lot.

Nah, dude, thanks. I can't make it better if I can't see what's wrong with it, right?
Hey Naastika,
Those traditional pieces are a good start. In terms of the digital piece it's looking a little stiff right now. The light seems to be hitting her in all directions and thats disrupting her form. Think about turning it into greyscale to get that down more. Think about things like adding cast shadows and where the light is coming from. In terms of anatomy I think Gildorek is right when it comes to the shoulders and face. Post this in the critique section and you'll get better in depth comments on that.
You could maybe mess with her pose more and try out different positions. I dunno, the placement of her legs seem awkward right now
I hope that helps some. keep posting man and working on that piece. You'll get there and do some more of those studies. I think you do have a good start here.
No, it does help. I've been learning so much in the past week just from reading forums! I'll be taking all of your critiques to this piece, I think it's already starting to look a little better.![]()
Really nice! i'm not great, but i think you can try to soften a bit, it doesn't matter if the work is "thick" in line and shading, but i see that the figure in general is a bit stiff, don't know well how to explain, i think it would be good to try with more relaxed poses both men and women, to focus on what is it exactly that makes someone look relaxed or tense.
hope it helps ^^
You are a child of the universe,no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

hey naastika
good studies, your quite adept at conveying a mood without going in to great detail. I suggest working on the shading technique though, the texture that you create in your shadows and in general in your values seems a bit random at times. makes it look flat.
good work, keep it up!

great work, your rendering skills are vary sharp. I love your sketches
Naastika! Hi, you are totally mastering the photoshop rendering. Something that I can't seem to get. Your sketches are really nice, you seem to have a strong understanding of form/anatomy, which will only get better with time and practice
The only suggestion I would make is that you could try to exaggerate you lights and darks. At the moment they look a little grey, but that could be because of scanner/camera.
looking forward to seeing more.
My poor sketchbook gets no love these days. I decided I should post some of the other stuff I've been doing. Maybe you'll see something I continually do incorrectly in all of my drawings; big heads, short legs, etc. Who knows?
We'll start with this li'l feller I drew last year. He was supposed to be some weird alien tribal fighter who just started at the bottom rung of the warrior ladder. Their heads are actually skull helmet things. I had drawn the progression from low level warrior to master level warrior, but the other drawings sucked. I couldn't get what I wanted. The elite warriors had this almost triceratops looking helmet and were gigantic and muscly compared to this little guy.
This was something I cranked out last year when I got mad at my boyfriend.(he's fine)
An older one...from 07; I can see a lot wrong with this, but I still like it for some reason.
A concept for a level I wanted to build. Perspective is not kind to me.
A sort of magician I came up with. Kinda has a Joker face. Thought maybe she could bring sock puppets to life, like a necromancer or something. She'd have sock puppet minions, and saw people in half and do card tricks. Never really thought that one out.
Was trying to work on details. Didn't really like this guy as much as I thought I would.
Was trying some new Painter techniques. I was really quite pleased with myself. I always wanted to try making more interesting hair. I hope I'm on the right track.
Just a pirate idea I had to get out there.
Another concept I pumped out to practice modeling n whatnot.
