going to finally start working out some portfolio pieces, that is leaning to finally hitting up the finishes, have to polish off that centaur piece and crazy lion body blade beasty.... then some ass kicking marines to follow... heres a sketch where Im fleshing out some forms/gesture....

Really dig post #94 and #112. The energy in your work is amazing. You seem to lose a lot of it when you are trying the tighter approach though, as in the centaur painting - the rendering is solid and the anatomy is pleasing, but the raw energy is not there yet. I'm fighting a similar demon on a much lower level

Nightblue: you def. have a point with getting caught up in renders w/ stiffening up the drawing... I think some Justin Sweet/Vance Kovacs ref would do me well, as they have a really painterly style, only rendering the necessary and letting the eye fill in the rest... hmmm.... thanks for the crit!

heres an update w/ the marine WIP:

Hey man. All black&white paintings are fantastic. I love the one with the skull.

Maybe leaving some lines thinner in your line sketch would help in making the form more volumetric.

Stovieheed: thankyou much! and will do fosho.

sourgasm: YeAH! Hellboy is fun to sketchup, gotta do some serious fanart soon!

GriNGo: yup, Color for one reason or another scares me a bit... but Im jumping on it soon enough dont you worry!

Farvus: true true with the line weight crit, but then again, if I was doing a linear illo, I certainly would spend more time/attention on the turning the strokes, but for the messy sketch.... its nice an chunky!

Lateman: HELL TO THE YEAH, hope you voted then!

Villa: Thanks bro, and loved the action in yours, glad to read you were entertained.

alright: Ive been working on finally getting a finish in, so I went back to my centaur piece and have been slowly but surely polishin it up. Still gotta put in some serious work time in it, but I think its shaping up nicely! Its all about the details...... (texture, color, background sure to come... )

OMG. I just checked out all your sb, and it's just mind blowing . Just out of curiosity, did you attend any art school, art college, or art classes of any sorts, or all of this wonderful art came from being self taught ? And keep up the good work man. Seriously my number one enemy is my lazy arse too, and it's the worst one.

P.s.: You should totally color that centaur dude, it's by far your strongest, and best rendered piece yet. And it has that whatchamacallit...ummm...an imposing stature, yea that's it.

Sweet stuff! I really like your style and the insane engery in your sketches. The last piece is, as everyone else have said, very impressive and one of your best additions. I'll be looking forward to seeing more! Keep it up and good luck.

Holy balls mate this is one great great great SB. Your more through sketches are very impressive, not to mention inspirational. and your stuff is aslo very illustrative, so I am fivestaring for sure! Also it is so impressive to see how you put so much into your loose sketches. On their merit alone I would give you the five little shiny things.

    Cheers mate

alrighty.... finally time to step away from this one. Im calling er done and DONE!

leaving it grayscale cuz i like it that way!

posting this badboy in the finished section for my first! (finished that this)

hope everyone gets a kick outta it, cuz I sure do. Not just because its right up my list of things I always love drawing, but because I finally finished a new piece! Gotta get out of my crappy non art job and start living the dream again.... making it reality.

    enjoy

great job on the centaur!!! colors now ?

one thing that could be possibly improved is the arms. especially his right arm, the shoulder armor doesnt seems to fit with the arm and hand position...

the armor details are really nice!

    keep it up !!
