Whats hot right now is my concept art for a short film I wrote two years ago. It is picked up again by a producer. At the time I am working closely with a director and develop the story. I will soon post a translated version I hope

Bubble Bobble is available on Wii. Oh the nostalgia! Used to play the 2-player with my brother. This game is as old as I am..

As I walked trough the park around the castle, I saw two riding police officers. With a ridiculously small hint of gesture, I saluted the officers as they patrolled trough the park.
I guess cops riding pigs watching us sucking Napoleon’s tits is exactly what what went trough my mind afterwards. I promised myself to draw it down..

Today’s sketch: ‘Tarpeian fashion renaissance anno 2008′


I read too much newspapers. The Iranian supreme court has approved to take use of an ancient death penalty. It works like this: Person is put in a sack and thrown out of a cliff to hit a pile of rocks.

This penalty is perhaps not meant to replace the most common stoning and hanging punishments. In my opinion its not really a step towards anything.

This method has its origins from the old legend of Rome, when the young Tarpeia betrayed her city. She was punished by falling off the cliff that is now mentioned after her..

As fashion often find inspirations from icons, martyrs and legends, why not give Tarpeia a go. Show your concern by dressing up with a sack, leaving one arm free for silver rings. Doing the ‘fenstere’ has also a great effect!

In order to understand a face you must take it to the extreme... This is a very free self portrait. It is an honest, low-fat, take it to the bone portrait. No chubby lies here!

It is an interesting way to draw as I get to explore the shape very quickly. The downside is perhaps that it made me look 20 years older. I wouldn’t admit that I see myself like this all the time.

Description

Not only by counting the number of growth rings can determine the age of a tree, but interpreting the spacing of growth rings can tell us much about it's life.

How can we understand the mind if not looking backwards and examining our past. Trough time, our mind has become a mind within a mind - an endless journey of nested personalities.
Notes

I've always been fascinated by the russian Matryoska dolls. The concept of nesting dolls, growth rings and onions is with me when I think of age and personality.

Description

It is typical to man to mimic the creation of life in ones ideal image. A puppeteer is a person who manipulates an inanimate object using strings. The brilliant use of strings gives the puppeteer full control of his puppet.

An excellent analogy of dominance. The unmistakable fact however is that there is always someone pulling your strings as part of an endless fractal.

Notes

This piece was originally inspired from my data structures and algorithms lectures.. I was immediately fascinated by recursive functions

The puppeteer concept is to me pretty worn out, but I think it turned out more interesting in this context.

Painted with inks, later scanned and processed in photoshop.

starts off with white ocean waves hitting the sand. one of the guys sitting on the beach finds his life meaningless.

WOW. Your expressive portraiture is excellent! Along with the beach photo experiments I usually find that much white a bit over powering, but works damn well in those. Thanks for the eye candy.

PS: I also spent tons of time playing bubble bobble too. Sadly never could beat it but it was damn fun.

Our hero wanders out in the white and cold desert, fumbling around, gets lost and suddenly discovers a black thick liquid. He walks up to it and tastes it carefully ...
