    Ixupi's scrawls: REDUX

I'm currently 21 years old with no artistic experience what so ever. The last formal art class I attended was 5th grade elementary. I just recently started to get into art and hope that this sketch book will keep me motivated. Any critiques and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I hope to attend art school after a year of attempting to hone my skills and develop a solid portfolio in the years to come.

    I hope you all enjoy.

EDIT: Decided to rework the sketchbook. I have new stuff to upload, so just scroll down a few posts to start seeing some art!

I think you've made the best possible start! Some studies, some imaginitive compositions and some complete colourings too! You've got some real talent there, so just keep working hard to hone those skills

One thing that might help (and I'm guilty of not following this 100% - I'm such a hypocrite) is mentally establishing which direction you want your art to go in, and then picking an aspect of it and working on that exclusively till you gain confidence in it. It requires discipline and requires premeditated study rather than freeform drawing, but they say it yields results faster.

That was quite therapeutic typing that out actually...

Not bad at all for a start. I dig your way to do anatomy sketches, especially hands. They are *really* neat for a so called beginner.
Do some more, you'll see improvement in no time! And I guess it's not bad if you can show some hand studies in your portfolio as most people struggle painting them!
A thing you might want look into is colour theory. Ha, I know, just me speaking. But in the pic with the green towel, the colours look good together and make each other more interesting. In most of your cg pics, they don't really connect with each other.
    Good luck, very good start!
Please excuse my poor English, it's not my first language!

    Red face Update: 2

Chocolate:Appreciate it. I find hands to be one of the more interesting parts of the human body and come A LOT more naturally to me than feet. I agree with you on the color theory bit. I actually put thought into the drapery piece and wasn't paying attention on the digitals. I need to study up, advice taken.

Thek: I don't really have an area I want to stick to at the moment. I have too many artists of different tastes that inspire me. I wish to ultimately be multi-faceted as an artist. So I suppose I should start realistic and work my way down.

EDIT: Apparently, Firefox doesn't work with the uploader. Slight delay on the post. Sorry.

Looking at your anatomy studies i remind myself of mines. Really cool, you got a good eye, and pretty clean lines.
Hope to see more from you soon man. Keep it up!

Carbono: Glad you liked them, I'll be sure to check out your stuff. Keep me working and you'll keep getting results, heh.

Miles: Last bit of art teaching was 5th grade. Other than that, just me looking at art/books and asking my wife "Whats wrong with this one?"

Here's what I meant to upload, hope you like it.

The self-portrait is older and I am uploading it to use as comparison for another I am about to do, so I can compare how much better/worse I have become.
