zou, thank you, I'll keep it in mind.

    will123will, thank you!

Recently I finished a bunch of pencil illustrations for a novel. Altogether I made 25 of those. Here's a selection of those I personally like best.
(Should've done them digitally, though. It took longer than I had anticipated)

Really like the trees, castle and dog! For the looks at least (if not for the time) pencil was the perfect choice!

I really like the way you draw character , they look so real and alive.

However, the only critique I really have right now is that FROM MY POINT OF VIEW , #758 looks a bit stiff , especially the left shoulder , it also looks like she broke her shoulder and the wrinkle is a protruding bone. But that's just what I noticed , I might be wrong.

Either way. Man kann dich nur beneiden

I made a new personal painting. This is Anne Boleyn as a zombie, returning to the world of the living to get sweet revenge on King Henry VIII.

I often notice a bit of perspective issues in your paintings.
It looks like you start off with a perspective grid but disregard it later.
Even little perspective flaw immediately reads as wrong to anyone,
not just very observant artists so you should really spend some time getting that right.
As an example I put a perspective grid on of your paintings and corrected some of the
perspective issues and tried to make the light more focused on the important parts of the painting.
In this paintings in particular there were also some issues with choosing the right values to
create form like on the dress, wings and chest. It ends up looking a little flat.
Also, try to avoid and weird overlapping and be more clear in your value patterns.
In the original paintings the boy is looking straight into the wing and all the crows look like they are at
the exact same depth in space. I hope this wasn't too much babbling^^

    This looks good, Xelar. Thanks!

    And thank you, untier.

I tried painting with a Wacom Cintiq for the first time yesterday. Not my own - it was at an art and design university here in Hamburg. I think I'm going to stick with the graphics tablet. I found the Cintiq a little too big to handle. And like any flat screens it reacts funny when I press the pen down firmly, as I often do. All in all, I find the standard graphics tablet much easier to handle.

Anyway, here is a new painting.
This is Nike. Before Nike was a shoe brand, she was the Greek victory goddess. Her Ancient Roman equivalent was Victoria.
The inscription on the temple: NUMQUAM DESPERA = Never give up (Latin). There is a famous statue of her in the Louvre today, which was my main inspiration and reference: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Ma2369_n4.jpg

    Nice.

I actually like that image WITH the perspective lines. It looks like some kind of energy is eminating from that bird.

    Puss In Boots

Another fairytale illustration I did in 2012; for the project "Märchenbande". It's a series of music CDs that interpret the fairy tales with a contemporary sound, for a young audience.
So far, the disc with this image on the cover has been published in Germany; others are (probably) going to follow.

Hi. I really like your bright airy illustrations, they are very full of character and life. Your choice of historical subject matter is really interesting too. I just read your tutorial on skin tones from September 2009 and wanted to say thanks. I hope you have a great year and do many paintings and illustrations, all the best. Dayle. \o/

You have some really nice work in here, which I enjoy browsing.
I think the contrast of the drawings lacks a bit, perhaps try improving that.
Also, your more details peaces lack atmosphere, like the one in your last post.
I don't know if it's intentional, but if not, then that may be something else to take into consideration.

    Cheers

Currently I'm participating in a TAD course that I won in the "Train Your Brain" contest on Deviantart.
It's a part-time, one semester course, and I chose Linear Perspective.

That's what I did so far, all still very fundamental. We practically start from zero.

The cube. We draw a lot of these! Good practice.
