Sapphire, thanks! And they are not only fun to paint, but also a great way to practice lighting, perspective, anatomy and especially skintones. Gonna do a lot more of these. You're right about the eyes. Need to practice that stuff more.

UnSharpened, cheers mate! Err, neither nor. I use SAI. Don't have the money for PS or Painter. And I wouldn't trade SAI anyway.

Amir the night wolf, thank you

monotony, thanks a bunch! Great to hear. Yeah I guess I should draw more from life. But there's no course anywhere around here, so that sucks But as soon as holidays are over I'll be sketching on the bus and during lectures again

mellowpurple, thanks my dear! Umm yeah, a lot of this stuff doesn't get posted anywhere else. Too lazy to upload it twice

~Faust~, haha, if something like talent exists, then I guess i have none. But you're right, I got a plan! Goes like this: Practice, look at other people's art to see how they do it, practice, practice, practice.

Gloominati, yeah there's actually a lot of Germans here, but I prefer talking english because when someone else talks in a language I don't understand I always feel like left out
Thanks dude, great to hear! And you're right about that comfort zone, I really need to break out of those patterns I always use. Need to do more studies, so much stuff to practice

So today! Did more of those arms. Skinfolds! They're so much fun. 1 hour on this one, no ref.

A photostudy from greyscale ref, so the colors are mine. This was fun, because it made me able to practice anatomy and skintones at the same time! About 1 hour.

More arms. Two lightsources in here, kinda difficult Like 1 hour 20 minutes, no ref.

And some Bridgman studies. Damn, my pencil skills are like... not so good.

Gloominati, yeah, just think of it as... practicing English And thank you!

    Farin, thanks, good to hear

Err, today wasn't quite my best day ever...
Some blending... do this as warmup exercise... boring to look at, but I thought I'd just upload it

Another arm... tying to get that studio kind of lighting, guess I failed pretty hard lol. No ref, about 70 minutes?

Figure study from a greyscale photograph... about 55 minutes, didn't really enjoy it as my palette wasn't working and it looked flat...

    Some scribbles...

And an arm I lost interest in after 50 minutes or so... I need to stay concentrated, I waste too much time on the internet.

Id like to see some more men in your work like those old grumpy men who look like they`ve been true all the bad stuff in life . That is because you have a very smooth and gentle style and it looks great on ladys .But i think it would be interesting to see how would you do the men.

And those arms are amazing you realy got the right light and shades and everything.

Thank you for taking the time and looking at my sketchbook.

    Cheers!

Digging these new skin studies. I second ohomoho. You have a very soft and bright style - something i'm trying to learn myself - but I'd like to see you switch it up and try something dark and gritty every once in a while. Keep up the hard work - massive improvement!

Been a while since I dropped a note! Your studies keep on improving, they absolutely do. Those neverending limbs studies of yours are such fun! But they look great as well, the lighting is especialy something I find nicely executed. Definitely improving. Those figure drawing as well, nice work.

But as has been mentioned, it probably wouldn't hurt you to expand your subjects a little I'd love to see you do some older men and women, or maybe children? Also fun to see people of different ethnicity and with different skin colour

Anyway. Keep on rocking, I'll be back soon to see your latest batch

What's going on in this thread

Aurélie, thanks my dear! Nono, I'm not dead yet. Yet. I dunno. maybe I should really take a break from painting that much... I feel a bit worn out... or maybe... AH DAMMIT! I can't give up. Thanks for your nice words

SnobbyOo, thanks man! Great to hear

atlantik, not as untired as I'd like to be haha Thanks mate.

    Flutic, thanks!!

ohomoho, you're right! I shall bring some more variation into my work. Right now I'm sick of skintones anyway lol. Thanks for the heads up man! Or whatever that's called.

EtherRain, thank you so much man! This means a lot to me.

Krigbrann, haha guess you're right then Thanks!

Fishspawn, thank you! Yeah, I shall do something more... rough. I also wanna tackle this week's CHOW, so maybe that's a good opportunity.

Asa my dear, thanks Alright then, guess my work really needs some variation. Aaaah my stuff bores me at the moment. But i wanna be able to paint good skintones. I just don't know. I need to keep going.

Err, today sucked. Anything I started went wrong... but here's some old men, as requested

She is a winner all right!

You've really made some great stuff.. your digitals aren't as bad as you state they are. I actually really like them. Great blending, and creative thinking. Not always to fond about the freckles you draw on all you chicks, but still gorgeous

so finally some reply to my dear Algenpfleger!

First of to your question, yes i am german
born in a small village in middle frankonia,
but i study interior design / interior architecture in Hildesheim (bei Hannover).
To your work: I love this arm bend thing serie, great shading and totally freaky. I searched for some finished work but didn´t find anything in the section. Try do to some, you definitely learn things you don´t do with sketches or speed paintings. Work on the skull, because your skin shading is awesome but without a good structure underneath it doesn´t work that way it could.
Yeah and maybe some boys or men here and there... but I don´t have to say that (...)

    cheers

Hive_minD man, thank you!! Hey you don't like freckles or what? Kidding, thanks for the nice words man!

    Quinn Simoes, thanks!

EtherRain, thanks mate But, no, I won't stop these yet, as i don't do them just for the folds. My main focus is still on colors, and those arms are a good way to practice that. And unfortunately I'm still far from mastering skintones

28chelseaslater, thank you Your stuff is so awesome.

    lennon, thanks

~Faust~, sorry, didn't mean to make you jealous Kidding man, thanks, I totally appreciate that. Mentoring huh? Hmm sounds interesting, but i don't know much, the only thing I could teach would be digital painting and color theory But as that's what you're asking for, we might as well do it! Would be good for me as well, getting back over those basics and stuff. So, yeah, why not

Xaya, oh thanks! Hildesheim, huh? That's quite far away from where I live, too bad. Thanks for the comments and critique man, highly appreciated. You're right, I rarely do some "finished" stuff... maybe I should. I always think it would be running before I can walk.
And yeah, you're also right about face structure... I need to work harder on that part. So much to learn! Haha and boys, yeah, you're so right xD Thanks for the feedback man, means a lot to me.

Chupacabra, I'm honored!! Thank you Sir!

Flaskpost, thanks mate! Just for you today, a bunch of new studies

But first, some 30 second poses. Haven't done these in ages, thus, I suck.
