Nice stuff! The variety of edges in the latest portrait is really good. I'd like to see you work with color more!
"A drawing is not necessarily academic because it is thorough, but only because it is dead. Neither is a drawing necessarily academic because it is done in what is called a conventional style, any more than it is good because it is done in an unconventional style. The test is whether it has life and conveys genuine feeling."- Harold Speed

Hey dude! Thx for stopping by! Yeah, I know my light is unconvincing. To be honest, I just rendered with some rough "light from the left" thought, because I have more problems figuring out my own workflow and how to render, rather than concentrating on lightning. :/
No worries, you didn't hit me too hard
Can you suggest a book or tutorial from which I can learn the anatomy best? Muscles etc? I own a Hogarth book, but I didn't find it too helpfull, since the muscles there are realy blocked and I can't see beneath the surface of the skin.
Best regards!![]()

HeyI will check those books out you mentioned, and I actually do own a Gottfried Bammes pfd (Der nackte Mensch), which I do understand, but it's only decent scan-quality.
I will do some studies from there!
thx!

The Pariano - thanks, I will see what I can do.
Here is a bad still life and photo study. I obviously need to do a lot more of these...
I started with a color blockout which then got muddy when I tried to locate the features![]()

Hello,
Drop the tablet and photo references and go do some studies from life. There is nothing more helpful than dozens of hours in front of a model.
Keep it up,
Tom
Merl1n - Thanks for comment - you are probably right but I still feel like I'm learning things with digital - here is some recent airbrush abuse

Pixel art is fun

Ha-ha, you, legend! Absolutely love your little pixel guy, and am totally drooling over the smooth rendering you are putting out on the paintings. Give Mila more love, she's worth it!
There is clearly a lot of progress here, so don't you stop! It'd be nice to see you pushing those values even more, sometimes, but that will come naturally, even, I dare say.
Granting you stars and now you have them! :-)
Good luck and best wishes,
Ana
Jansi: thanks for the encouragementI feel bad leaving Mila like that, I do, but I probably am not going back for her. Now, if it was Cate Blanchett, that's another story.

Reworked an older image. Shouldn't be too hard to recognize it![]()
