Thanks dude, you're totally right, it'd make studies all the more interesting too.

Been getting back into drawing, here's a WIP, sketched it on paper just as i was going to meet a friend about doing an animation... which's going well. A couple people from Weta are interested in helping us out which's fantastic.

I've been looking at creaturebox.com a lot recently... I love Dave's and Greg's work, and have just started to give a whack at his style. (if you go there now, and look on the main page, you'll see the orange robot pic that i was lookin' at while drawing this)

Couple sketches today... working on an animation with a friend, and a couple guys from Weta Digital are even going to chip in a bit. Awesome eh? If anyone out there went to the Wellington Workshop and met Alejandro, then that's who I'm working on this with.

Wow, lovely cartoony stuff here. Only crit: the hair(?) of the last one looks a bit strange - I couldn't name the material it's made of. Also some nice caricatures here, though your realistic faces are suffering from some anatomy issues. Whooops - it's also supposed to be a caricature. Anyway - even caricatures should show some basic underlying structure and anatomy. the ones in this post are much better but the rendering should be less loose and I'd say there are some problems with Jack black - I mean the left side of the face is totally distorted and out of perspective for no apparent reason. Your other exaggerated renderings are pretty cool, but use asymmetry wisely especially when it comes to human faces.

The Headless Boy. (Duh!)

An idea that came from watching Sleepy Hollow and reading Hellboy at the same time. Haha, who said guys can't multitask?

I'm not sure what his name is yet... but I know his story. This boy was cursed with an early death without a head (as the story usually goes), but has been given the ability to sustain his existence by severing the heads of others (and the story keeps going...), his spirit is slowly seeping out of the gap that is his neck-hole, and he needs to keep plugging it up, usually with heads! He severs the heads of those who he knows are evil, and while wearing them he adopts thats persons appearance and can fool others into thinking he is that person. It's a pretty morbid idea yeah... but ironically the comic ideas I keep having are actually pretty funny... He ends up having to plug up the hole with a crystal ball at one point, runs away through a crowd of people during the 1940s and they mistake him for a martian in a space helmet: so then he starts the belief in aliens in movies etc Stuff like that.

He never ages, and he's been around for hundreds of years. The comic doesn't take place during the time where he's trying to "find out who he is and what happened to him"... that bit's already been done, instead it's following his day-to-day life AFTER that... I might toy with it some more... Anyway, here's a pic of him for ya.

Headless boy is creepy (or more to the point - the blood dripping is quite gross!) I see the comedy possibilities though! For me I'd tone down the graphic gore side of it a little and go to town on the comedic side (with a little cartoon gore of course!)

Keep at is buddy - how about giving us a running tally of how many hands, feet, thighs/legs you've drawn?

Just a few sketches. A lot of the time lately I haven't really been able to "get into" my random cartoon doodles, but this time was different, really enjoyed mucking around with these ones. Heh.

The "Pew Pew" drawing is from today... spent a couple hours just idly toying with it, looks better IRL, I'm not good at shading and such yet, but the scanner is part the criminal too hehe.

The other two sets of pages are from a while back, the quadrupedal alien hunter was just after I saw Avatar at 3AM, and couldn't sleep the rest of the night and just wanted to draw... followed by a trip at 10AM the next morning to the Weta Cave. Hehe.

A wee update on this'n. I've actually been holding off of painting this one time and time again, not because I don't enjoy it: I REALLY enjoy it. But I like to wait for when my gf is seated next to me, she's a lot better at colour theory than I am, and so she'll flip me a tip or two as I'm painting that I feel really helps me out a lot.

Little things, but little things that are used to frequently that they snowball into important habits.
