Very nice stuff going on here, I have to agree with fedezz... These all are very well done paintings that really do nestle quite nicely between ultra descriptive and loose and free. I personally enjoy the painting of the barn before a storm.

    Keep it up Jon.

Massive thanks again everyone. I've not been at home this past week and arent back till the 6th Jan. I've only had a pen and sketchbook, so I'm dying to get a load more of these sketches done as soon as I get back.
Mike! how do matey. Job's going good thanks, and the stress is finally starting to kick in . I can send ya some at higher res if ya want. I don't really wanna post high res ones, coz it might kill the image [make ya focus on the fast lines and not the whole pic]
Ryan, Cheers mate, I'm good, you?

post 13 reminds me a lot of the scene from the first superman movie from Richard Donner in which a you Clark Kent is standing in the corn fields beside the farmhouse. I love this movie btw and so I love the mood of your image(s). You have captured the magic.

    Best wishes,

    Chris

Amazing! I especially like the enviro from post #5. I generally love everything that is moody and with space as main theme .
Maybe put even characters more often so that it's easier to read the scale.

    Cheers

    Hey Jon,

I saw your stuff way back when somewhere online and was so stoked on the style and skills you have. I love the way you use colors, lighting and perspective and though the pictures are rough at times it appeals me even more. Much to learn from you and a lot to admire.

You said you only had a pen and sketchbook with you at them moment. Would be curious to see what you come up with with a pen and sketchbook if you're ever posting those.

    Have a good one!

Hehe yeah definately need more practice, sure Love those speedpaints. That last isn't the strongest though. Maybe some foreground elements would help it.

Oi, drop the fake modesty, you're doing damage to my ego.

last one is great, moody - love it. think you can break the bird up some more, they're starting to become a shape and I think they'll work better as just small elements activating the negative space. Also this one might be a little right-heavy. Other than those misguided crits, totally awesome.

    Looking forward to more!
    cheers!

Beautiful work. The old windmill is amazing! And the old red farmhouse has the most perfect feeling of a long rain after an even longer drought, stopping just in time for sunset... reminds me a lot of the weather here in Texas. Great work, 5 stars for you.

Last one has a beautiful value structure and colour harmony, plus the textures are to die for mate. Love how the brush work creates that little ambiguity between positive and negative space - you can see the background has been painted over the foreground. Dunno if that made sense...

anyway have 5* more, you damn well deserve 'em.
thanks for dropping by my book mate, much appreciated.
    cheers!

your environments are amazing! very nice, very atmospheric!

but most of them don't look all the way finished. they all have great potential. i'd work and try to finish one completly and then do another
