    Rainy day

    Hi guys,
This is my new wallpaper I'm working on. I'd like to hear some general critics and comments, and maybe some idea's of what to do with the right area, I dont want to do a detailed enviroment as that would be like a painting inside this painting, but I dont want it to look too sloppy.
I know it still needs some work (like the hear, the lips ect) and I think I'm gonna add and ear ring as well tomorrow.
So any C&C? Spit it out!

    Thanks

Okay, I'm just going to pick out little details that look off to me... like the ear's outer ridge has the same thickness across the whole arch, if that makes any sense. Kinda makes it look flat. If you show more of the inside of the ear just below it, it will look more in perspective. The eyes are also slightly misaligned, like the right eye should come down just a little bit more behind the nose. Her head kinda looks too big for her shoulders... but in all the face looks pretty good, if this is from imagination I'd say it's nearly spot on. Although, if it's from a reference you might want to post it as an aide to critique.

The hair, I'm not so sure on. It looks off, but I'm bad with hair myself so I can't really say what you should do. The lips could use thinner wrinkles in the upper lip. The thickness of the wrinkles is killing the definition of her upper lip and flattens it.

In general though, I'd say boost the contrast a little more and maybe think about your light sources. Although, maybe not too much or you might lose that 'diffused' lighting effect that you'll need to make a convincing rainy day scene.

As far as the background goes, I'd say bring forward some of the silhouettes of the trees. But stay heavy on the atmospheric effect. So maybe do a few lines of trees, getting gradually more faded as they recede.

Good work and keep it up!

She is gorgeous. The only thing that bugs me a bit are the black lines you used to mark the eyelids, maybe make them thinner or not entirely black?

Beautiful picture though, kinda reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Susan Sto Helit

    Cheers!

I agree about the lack of rain; at most it looks like she's in fog or mist. Also, her shoulders appear too small compared to the size of her head.

    VERY nice lady

I suggest you make it some rainy city in the right background, as it matches her coat and umbrella

    Oooo, pretty!

Are you going for clouds in the background, or painty-plotchy impressiony things?

It's probably just me - would a bit more tonal gradiation in the umbrella help seperate it from both the girl and the background?

I like it! Maybe the umbrella frame could be worked on, love the background. Maybe you should call it, "A storm's comin".

    Hey, thanks fella's
You're right, I think a storm might be comming,... but its just the name of the topic.

And I know many things could use some more work, pretty much everything appart from the face and the hear is speedpainting leven. There is so much that could always use some more work you know but I'm gonna take what I've learned and move on.
