Hi, nice to see u here.

I thought it was time to create a sb, where I´ll post everything i will draw.

I´m a 17 years old boy from Sweden, not so good to draw, have never going in art school or something, but i´ve a high wish to be just as great to draw as u are. Or even better, if that is possible?

I want critique from you, give me tip-offs and tell me how i can improve.

I shall post here as often as i can, follow my long way to be mucho better!

Not a bad start, but i think you should get a book about sketching in order to learn proportions and perspective. Or keep looking around here, there´s tons of great tutorials around.

The professionals always say the same: "practice" and draw from real life...

so is the only thing I can say you .,.. (i'm a noob xD) practice and draw from real life...
uhM! and some anatomies studies will help you a lot... for example the captain america's arm is a bit weird... the same with the hand in the first post...

anddd do the same i'm going to do.. study the head's proportions from loomis.!

It's better to work on your observation.the best practice is life drawing.
i think that you can start your journey by studying "Drawing by right side of brain"
(I'm not sure about the title,i don't remember it,search through Google).I don't read it,but i think i will help you very well.

Anyways,
I think everyone here has some drawings that look just like yours, I know I do...
they look very simmilar to yours

I already see improvement since the Loomis study, I recommend adding George Bridgman's books to your library too. Knowlege of anatomy by its location and limits is imperative in drawing the figure and Bridgman will show you. The more you avoid it the longer it will be before you see the kind of improvement your looking for.

Try learning a variety of approches to sketching and find your own from there. Whatever your having problems with (nose, eye, ear, mouth, hair, arm, leg, finger, knee...), isolate it, study it, master it (as much as you can), and move on to the next. Don't try to tackle everything at once. Do lots of diverse sketches of the same thing from diverse angles. Simplify and find out why it is and how it can be different while still holding its properties. After you got a good idea of a part find out where all the parts go in relation to eath other (using planes as guides).

Its also good to lay out a good foundation by holding your pen/pencil from opposite end of tip before you start "choking" your pen/pencil and trying to fit it all together. Basically save detail for last and get the gestalt first.
Holding the pen/pencil from its end prevents you from going into detail as choking it prevents you from doing the whole.

Learn the rules before you break them, but I think your off to a real good start.

I've got some good work done in school myself

Remember... eyes are always in the middle of the head (in another words dont forget your forehead). Once you start putting them in the right spot you'll probably notice other things. Another way to check your work is turning it upside down. It's all in the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. Its not really worth buying but check it out from a library. Its a "beginner" book and shows you the key principle of drawing... seeing. Positive/Negative space, Relative location of things, draw what you see and not "iconic symbols" and another one... but cant remember. It can get a bit over bearing with the brain thing but it will point you in the right direction.

For landscapes...
Take a look at Albert Bierstadt (or any artist of the Hudson River school).
I have had the privilege to see a few of his works and they are just amazing.

Hi, jompen. Looks like you're working pretty steadily. I can't add too much to what has been said, but here's a little. Try and keep in mind things you want to improve on and find exercises made to work on those. Loomis and Edwards are good starts for drawing, especially Edwards' exercises because they help you see. You may also want to study artists you like to learn how they did things. That's how the old masters learned, and I find doing master copies very enlightening. And check out some of the threads; including the Mentoring section, there are some pretty good stuff showing up in there.

Most important, take your time and enjoy. I can already see some improvement.

The thing about the hand;
I know the book has a major emphasis of looking and not the actual object but lets not forget there is structure underneath (bones/muscles).
I am not sure if you have George bridgman's book (human machine/drawing from life) but those (along with loomis as you already know) are almost required text for this forum. The way the Dr. Edward's book is structured is to learn how to see first then go into the mechanics of what it is later, so just giving a little idea for later on.

I think its good to start out with a good structure then work your way into the drawing rather than piecing it all together (i.e. you last drawing). The face will almost always be symetrical. Use those planes as guides. Dont work to hard at getting a final piece at the begining. Symplify then go into detail. Hope that helps, but look for different techinques for illustration... there might be one you really connect with and others that don't.
