Your characters feels very dynamic and has a lot of humour in them, nice! The man in the mask is cool, are you taking that one further? Maybe some light on HIS left side would help make the image 3d, could be reflected light.

Forgot to wish you a happy new year!

Happy New Year my friend! Thanks for keeping on me about posting, it's easy to slip during the holidays.
I've been looking over your recent sketches and have a few thoughts. First, I think it would be a good idea to do some facial proportion studies, particularly the placement of eyes (I struggle with the same thing, especially 3/4 and 2/3 views). I also think you should bring a digital sketch into a higher level of completion because it only takes achieving that juicy feeling once in PS to get the hang of it... I'm going to keep nagging you about this . Lastly, I love how prolific you are and that you are drawing from life. You've been improving rapidly and will continue to do so because of your drive. Your lines have great energy too.

'Ello again, here's some life drawings from this week, plus an inking practice from a drawing of a photo. Thanks again for everything! Also, Mumph, I do want to take these characters further. I've loved the idea of shiny black armor ever since I read an issue of Requiem in Heavy Metal.

Nice updates! The face studies are nice, maybe you should try some larger ones? On that first one in post #96 I think it looks a bit messy, try blocking in the body first, even parts you may not see from a specific angle. I think it will help you place your lines.
Also, the man sitting on the chair, the wrinkles on his suit look more like holes in the suit rather than wrinkles. I think it´s because of the contrast between the black and the white of the paper. If you would give the suit a grey tone I think it will look more believeable.
    Great caricatures and cartoons.

The cartoon stuff is strong, as always. So are the fast, gestural drawings, which is why I'd love to see you spend some more time on a piece... you know, give those rendering skills a work out. It's amazing what some tone/hatching can do for a sketchbook page. I think Rarebit does a really nice job with fast hatches/tone that add a lot to his SB pages.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hey!

Nice updates! Looks like the studies are going well. My only complaint is some of your values are kind of muddy and all around the light-medium gray area instead of a full tonal range. But they're just studies and I'm sure they're done quickly... I'm looking at the jacket in post 100 and it looks kinda flat. But when you go darker like in post 102 the jacket pops out. OR, it could be that my monitor is wacky.

I think the values in the sketch of the woman on the beach are a bit too close. Some darker values will probably make the image easier to read. Great work on the studies, those latest clothes studies are nice, I think the simple but effective shading works great!

I know that these are quick doodles, so I won't scrutinize too much but there are some anatomy issues in the ones from imagination. Just general proportion issues... heads seem a tad small, eyes too small, crown & back of the head too shallow... but like I said, I know these are just doodles.

The drawings from life (I assume) are nice and have much better proportions.

I agree with BRINKMAN!, especially on the bottom page there are some problems with the profiles (eyes too high up and shape of the head looks a bit strange) and the man (pecs a bit too big, hands too small and thighs). Don´t have anything else to add right now, just letting you know i´m watching

the loose sketches and studies are looking good as usual. I especially like all the face studies; most of them look like real people and not just a generic face. My only complaint is that it seems like all the figures are prone/static; you might want to try drawing from some sports magazine or something, move them around!

Super nice statue studies. I'm going to keep prodding you about doing some more finished work until you tell me to shut the fuck up!

Let's see a piece that has several hours in it.

Keep up the good work my friend.

Here's a sketch for a cubist painting we're doing in class. It was inspired by "Portrait of Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler" by Picasso.

Nice cartoons, I really like the style of the man with the briefcase.
I´m having some troubles to see what´s going on in the sketch (a figure crouching forward?) but as you said, it´s a sketch. Looking forward to seeing the painting.

Loving your flow of lines, you get great movement and grace with your characters. Sort of reminds me of Disney or something [sorry].
Really like the expressions on your faces as well, but only with a few lines. There's an illustrator called Gary who's done loads of charactures for various editorial publications in the UK. A lot less lines used but amazing how you still know who they are. Can't find his website though or any sample of his work - fail!
