seriously amazing gallery, I just love the style you're using.
its very emotive and appealing.
It's got a certian Cartoonish feel but the context takes that right out and gives it a very original look.
Keep it up, Would look too see alot more from you![]()
"Sadly, most artists prefer to give the elite their attention."

Wow, you have some really strong, dynamic sketches here. I love how you manage to portray such a strong sense of motion, it's something I'm trying very hard to do.
All the best and more please!

MATTE PAINTING STEP BY STEP
here is one of the main planets that will be used for one of the battle sequences in the movie- SERENITY-
they commissioned me to do a matte painting for this particular scene....
my particular approach to matte painting is to collage different pieces of photos ...use them as texture....and paint and seam the rest. Its a relatively straight forward process ... i can get more detailed later...i have included step by step screen shots at all the major points in the creation.
PLATE ..1
THIS IS TO SHOW YOU WHAT I START WITH...JUST A PLATE OR IMAGE OF THE TEXTURE THAT I WANT TO USE......I THEN BEGIN TO RESIZE THE TEXTURE......PLAY WITH THE OPACITY...AND USE LAYERS.....
PLATE .. 2
HERE IS THE FINISHED FOUNDATION PLANET...ALL TERRAIN HAS BEEN SEAMED TOGETHER...RIVERS AND ROADS PAINTED WHERE I WANTED...
PLATE .. 3
I COMPED SOME CLOUD REFERENCE AND PLACE IT WHERE I THOUGHT IT WOULD FIT... PAINTED AN SEAMED IT ON " A SEPARATE LAYER"
VERY IMPORTANT TO WORK IN CLEAR LABELED LAYERS....YOU GOT TO BE ABLE TO FIND STUFF AND CHANGE IT QUICKLY LATER ON...
PLATE .. 4
I INVERTED THE CLOUD LAYERS AND PLACED IT UNDER THE WHITE CLOUD LAYER ....OFFSET IT A BIT...TO CAUSE A SHADOW EFFECT....
PLATE .. 5
HERE I ADDED THE ATMOSPHERE AS A SEPARATE LAYER.....USED THE COLOR DODGE TOOL TO CAUSE THE GLOW EFFECT...
PLATE .. 6
ADDED SOME MORE CREATIVE HURRICANE CLOUD FORMATIONS TO ESTABLISH A MORE TURBULENT ENVIROMENT...
PLATE .. 7
AND FINALLY....VOILA!!!
THE FINAL PLATE USED IN THE MOVIE...JUST FINISHED, POLISHED UP AND SEAMED THE DETAILS....
T- SHIRT DESIGNS
i thought id share the t- shirt crew designs
some people dug them some didnt...ah well..cant make everyone happy...haha
REAVER SHIP DESIGNS
Here are some more examples of texturing on an existing surface to create a quick visual...
Ive included the foundational plate they gave me...this was the jump point i worked from ...adding other photo elements..and painting where i needed to.....
this is a fairly simple process...and it lends to some quick visuals and gives the director a lot of different options very quickly
PLATE 1
INITIAL PLATE
PLATE 2
THEY WANTED ME TO DING UP THE SHIP A BIT ....MAKE IT WEATHERED AND PUT TOGETHER FROM OTHER SHIP PARTS WITHOUT GOING TOO CRAZY AND CHANGING ITS SILLOQUETTE TOO MUCH...
PLATE 3
THEY FINALLY WANTED ME TO ADD SOME MORE ELEMENTS TO MAKE IT LOOK A BIT MORE MENACING.
PLATE 4
JUST ANOTHER PASS ON ANOTHER ANGLE
VERY QUICK SKETCH
Here is a veeeeeeeeery quick sketch i did with a brush pen to illustrate creative placement of dismembered bodies on one of the sides of the reaver ship...impaled ala Dracula style.....all that was needed with this project was a jump point for the maya modeler to build this model.
i modified it a bit with the color and all in photoshop
i just dug it for the abstract shape of it all....

I just love the shirt! I'd so buy it haha
Keep on posting!
Not something I'd see with a Raiders football logo. Kickin stuff though.
OK, I was already stoked by the stuff you had posted, until I saw you did work on Serenity.
Wow.
