In the first image, something bugs me about the shoulder. I think we should be seeing more of the right shoulder than we do; it's not usually that recessed unless you're seeing the figure in a more pronounced 3/4 view.
Also, I think the arm touching the monster may be a bit too long. Or, it could be part of the shoulder issue. It's hard to tell.
Other than that, though, you seem to have a nice thing going. The hands on the holograph monster are great. I'd like to see that image once you've finished it. Keep it up!

I'm starting fresh and trying to do better. Check out my progress in my sketchbook. Or, to see finished work, visit my Portfolio Website
Welcome the sketchbook section. One step up. First I'll say is to Do some anatomy studies. And also draw some portraits using lines to measure up and makesure everything is in its correct place.
WIP for a weekly Digitalwebbing challenge. It's a reimagine of Omega-Red.

Well I finally found a mentor! And I've joined a Class that I hope will make me more well rounded, and help me in those areas I've been ignoring.
Tonight's my first night and here's my first sketch. Many more to come in the days/weeks following.

Here ya go.
Over the last few days I realized that I'm really good at doing figures from the front or side, but the rear view with all the back muscles is still a mystery to me. I'm going to skew my sketch selection in that direction for alittle while until it all just clicks into place.
Can't wait for my first assignment.![]()

Hey ogre!
First, I think you should post some more of your personal sketchbook and painted stuff rather than just the stuff from Slash's assignment. People will be more interested in that.
As far as your pose maniacs goes, in your 2minutes a lot of the torsos are much too long. I know its hard to measure perfectly in 2minutes but getting your eyes accustomed to making use of negative shapes and alignment lines will speed you up as well as make your proportions more accurate. And your 20minutes there are some long torso events there too but not as often as the 2minutes, but an issue that is consistent is the long neck.
Also a quick suggestion for the 20minute, the values you lay in are really blurry and don't really show form, and the light source isn't clearly defined. What is it you are trying to learn by doing the value like that? Already the pose maniac images themselves can be difficult to judge the light source, but if you are enjoying the value I would pick a value for the canvas itself, sketch on it then use the canvas like the midtone and add the darkest darks and lightest lights. It will describe the form much better and maybe help you learn more? Just a suggestion, goodluck man.
Just have fun.

Haven't had a spare moment to breathe this past week. Tons of overtime at both jobs, commissioned family portraits for co-workers, and all the family get togethers a body can stand. I'm so tired right now that when this is over I'm going to sleep for a week.
Here's everything to top off Last weekend, Monday, and Tuesday.

Made a Quick sketch tonight. I think the group I was in went the way of the dodo bird over the holidays. Everyone stopped posting and I know personally I haven't been blessed with alot of free time. Oh well, maybe next time.
Here's your sketch

Not at all ogre, just most of us were with family, or out of town. I talked with Slash and we are still on. Some, like me, are just trying to knock the dust off and we'll be back and cooking. Nice little doodle.
Just have fun.

Glad to hear we may be back on. I need the practice!![]()
A quick paint for tonight.

One more for tonight.![]()

i like your work but what i tend to see is that there seems to be no emphasis on opposing curves. all your outlines appear to be the same width as opposed to differentiated lines which allow form to support each other. i think there was a nice tutorial by rebecca kimmel on cgtalk on it - helped me enormously.
How's this for varying line width![]()
Just a quick paint tonight. But it was fun!

Hehe and a rasberry to you sir![]()
Thanks for the link. I know what you mean by opposing line weight.![]()
Tonights work is brought to you by the Character Re-imagine thread over on Digital Webbing. This is my re-imagining of Robin.![]()
Enjoy!

Man the things the brain will come up with when you slip the leash a little.
I blame my room mate for this one. He's always drawing weird stuff that looks like the things you see under an electron microscope. And he's always playing sad moody music that makes you want to hide the sharp objects.![]()
Well anyways, here's something weird from me.![]()

Here's my contribution to the Draw Off this week over at Digital Webbing.
I thought Wolverine would be more interesting in more military gear and less spandex. This Wolvy doesn't have claws, but still has an ungodly healing factor and a love for cutting to the heart of the problem.
My idea is that he has become the hunter incarnate. Taking on more beastial aspects(including the overly long eyebrows hehe). He can track anyone down with his senses, including a biological equivilent of GPS.
Enjoy!

Hey man, pretty good drawings and body studies! Very good skyline! I see you don't have any problems about drawing arms but i see some mistakes on the Black WIdow which I will show you, the left arm looks like there's no joint and considering of the position of the torso I think the left shoulder also look smaller than the right! Hope you obverse them! You're not my style but I see you're very good at your art! Keep going BEST WISHES from Bulgaria!
