Right, so new year and something new for me. Had this absolute compulsion this morning (especially after seeing some photos of a friend of mine) to pick up my shitty old cam and take some pictures. So here's some stuff from around the house - no concepts or meanings, just looking for interesting comps.
feedback welcome as always!
cheers!

I really like the last photo, interesting contrast between the fence on the wall and the flower pot. But they're all excellent studies, and the overal colour scheme in them captured my interest too. So by all means keep up the camera, you seem to have a good eye for that as well!

dude, you should post those photos in the photography topic! they're really good![]()
The windmill fad show skills that are looking sharp.
The photos are nice. What I like is how the soft earth tones work so well together. Were you thinking about that when you chose your subject? The clay pot with the green trellis harmonizes quite well color and comp wise.

AsaB: Many thanks, glad you liked.
Marjolein: haha thanks but I really don't think I'm in the same league as those guys.
Aztec: Always cool to read your comments. Yes, I did have fairly specific stuff in mind, but these also underwent some colour correction in PS. Nothing major, but it does add quite a bit. Glad you liked it!
paperX: Haha yep we do have some nice textures here and there. Glad you liked them mate, will likely be putting more of them on here from time to time.

I have just looked at this page two but I adore the colour used in those photos - its so dreamy
and your fuji is a fine camera! Its not the camera that makes the photographer; my canon xti couldn't produce images so lovely if I catch it on an off day

Really nice photo's Brendan!
The second and last three look great. Where was the holiday?
Cheers mate and a happy new year!
Really interesting mix of styles and media here... the photography is really neat, you've a great eye for composition. The concept of the ID book fascinates me... can you give a little more info on exactly what the purpose of it was? Love the splash page design for the interactive portfolio, as a designer, that really speaks volumes to me. The SP is probably my favourite, just simply for the portrait factor, but the colour studies are equally impressive.
Nothing to crit from me, everything looks ship shape!
Thanks for dropping in guys, will give some responses in a bit.
In the meantime, DanC was once again kind enough to allow me to screw up one of his drawings. Great fun, though I'm pretty sure I misinterpreted some shapes and forms ... oh well.
c+c welcome
ciao!

awe-some !
thanks dude !
some replies-ah...
Miffle: Many thanks. Yeah my lil FinePix does the job ... well ... Fine. Can't complain - guess I'm used to Photographer friends with way cool interchangeable lenses and fancy shiznit. Thanks!
DanC: For me?! You shouldn't have.
krossj: Thanks mate! The Holiday was out in the Mpumulanga province, bout 2-3 hrs out of Pretoria where I live. Cheers and happy New Year to you too!
zephyri: Thanks a bunch, much appreciated! The ID book was a great little project. It revolved around creating a visual Identity Document - no text was allowed, and you had to represent yourself and information about yourself strictly in visual terms. I was lucky to get some elbow room on there, and I wound up doing a lot of doodling and sketching things that I enjoy. Things like Driver's License info was also included (page with the shoe) and some other conventional features were re-interpreted (such a Weapon License). But in the end it wound up evolving into its own little thing. Hope that answers your question some.
DanC2: Haha, no prob was way fun dude!
thanks for the visits, peeps! Much appreciated! I'm going to try make some return visits sometime soon!
cheers!

Man you are making some monster progress with your colour work. I'm liking that painter doodle... keep at it.
PS when did you become an awsome photographer? Multi-talented, pfft, no fair, and here I am and all I can do is draw furries.
As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.
