el coro roughbook more headz updated 2/27

hey guys and gals! i been laying low on the sketchbook thing for years here, but after seeing sparth start a book in here i got all nostalgic and wanted to start one as well. just like the old days haha. so here are some various little speedpaints, and some pages from my current rough book. these drawings and some others will appearing in an upcoming imaginefx sketchbook section. most of these are just hacked through real fast, and with the exception of the ones obviously done from life sittings, i dont use any references to try to help build up my mental library. ill try to keep updating, and hopefully this will motivate me to keep doing stuff after work more often....hope ya like!-c36

Christmas early!! Great little sketches, the PIGDIK sketch reminds me very much of the montreal workshop demo you gave hahaha. The red/purple digi sketch with the jet blows my little mind.

I was stupid enough not to get any comments/critiques about my work when I was in montreal, due to fear, intimidation,..stupidness, so whenever you have some free time, could I possibly recieve a critique on my SB? even if it's just a "you suck, draw more" would be awesome with me.

thanks coro, waiting til the next update!

Ver-y nice. Is your earlier sketchbook still around somewhere? I had a happy browse on your website, but I especially like to see people's roughs and preliminary work.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).

I really love the different textures in these, do you have a library of overlays that you use, or is it all custom brushes?

The thing I love about how the big guys start sketchbooks in this section is that it shows us little doods that even the pro's are doing the things we're doing, trying to better themselves.

I really dig the page with the guy holding the cup along with the looseness of the pen/marker sketches. Cheers man.

wow lotsa replies!! i forget how active this section is.
lots of old friends here and some fresh faces too haha.

brokencow: whatup dude!! thanks a ton, good to hear from you. hope everything is well. im just an old man tryin to kep up these days haha.

cotron: man that shit was ugly! hugs!

SprayNation: thanks dude! if its the landscape i think you are talking about, its no collage! i used a hi res scan of my pallette and tweaked some brushes, thats all. ill post a progress sequence to show you what im talking about...

Creatinity: my pleasure. thanks for replying!

ghoulio: thanks man. i like doing vehicles alot. i think i could have gone into it as a proper vocation i like it so much. glad you liek em. ill try to post more soon!

James Kei: next up i wanna post those nude figure sessions i did with you modelling....wait that was just a dream i had

Zord: haha big guys...you are too kind. it does seem the further i get into my career, the more i feel the need to continue to improve and learn new shit. its extremely important as an artist to keep growing and following ones inclinations i think. theres so much to learn. its a lifetime endeavor.

nonie: TRIPLETS!!! thanks dude. i do love drawing my pups. they are always my unsuspecting victims when im looking around the house for something to draw...

_andreas_: thanks! yeah i dunno, i havent been using anythign too technical for my sketching. i use a .5 pentel mechanical pencil, a sakura micron GRAPHIC 1 pen, occiaionally i use the hi-tec c, i work in a moleskine ( the one with the thin pages) hope that helps

Villa: thanks man. i do enjoy jumping around quite a bit hehe. keeps it fresh and keeps me interested

    koppa: thanks !

.61803: haha thanks man. its good to be back.

Halfmonk: i have a bit of both. i have a pretty large library of scans of various things, and i also use a fair share of different brushes. its abalance of both.

    Epias: haha right? wheres BENGAL?

Carnifex: thanks man. ill definitely try as time will allow. winter is slower for us usually, so hopefully ill be able to be mroe active on here.

Stoat: thanks. i dont know where my old sketchbook stuff is honestly. swept under a rug somewhere. i think i actually had the first official "sketchbook" section here on CA way back in 2002 lol. funny to see how this place has grown.

Skeiff: haha cristmas starts earlier and earlier every year. if this is your christmas present however, i feel sorry for giving you such a lump of coal lol.
dude know you can hit me up any time you see me and i will always be happy to look at and discuss with you your stuff. dont ever let fear keep you from showing your shit off. you only live once. ill try to respond in your SB soon, i promise!

Moai: thanks. i think thats usually called inconsistency haha

Jake Kobrin: thanks dude. its spectrum, by the way

ShadowOfTheSun: thanks. yeah i wish we had time too. its been a busy year for the whole team. gotta eat tho . i use mostly a pentel .5 mechanical penci with hb lead.

    Thujon: thanks, and thanks.

Anurizm: thanks. i do love sketching with pen.

big thanks to everyone who replied. i will try to update with decent shit, and more often.
oh heres a step by step of one of those speedpainted enviros that started with a hi res scan of my oil pallette...-c36
