    Xcarbon's Sketchbook

    Hello Im Altaf / Xcarbon

i want to improve myself and be better - its as simple as that
i want to be a proper artist and spend my days drawing rather than doing a non art job which im doing now.
i WILL to be a concept artist someday [no one will/can stop me], but to achieve that.. practice is a must.
i will try to post a much as i can and as frequently as possible. please give critiques i dont care if they are HARSH all i care about is improving.
help me improve and i shall do the same for others!
    thanks

When you draw heads and figures, try to break them up in simple forms like circles and cylinders, and get those forms correct first. They will serve as a good base and will prevent your final drawings from looking screwed Keep it up!

Hey! Welcome to CA. Liking the studies of the skulls and anatomy. Keep those up for sure.

For cross hatching, just remember to keep the forms in mind. Cross hatching against the natural direction of an object can have a completely different effect, and the image could turn out looking completely flat. Hope that helps.

Good stuff in here. Keep studying from Brigman and go out and sketch from life too. That's something that I really ought to be doing more of too. Haha But yeah, keep it up!

it might just be me but i wanted to point out in the first couple of posts your upper body was consistently is a tad bit too long? iunno if you corrected it yet, but just wanted to let you know since no one else has mentioned it so faro: might be a good idea to review the proportions 8) if you intended to distort the body proportions ignore this (x otherwise good job on posts!

    @ tj0ri - Thankyou :]
@ tabletoppler - yea i actually figured that out quite late when i was drawing from Bridgman's i drew the initial spheres for upper and lower torso a little too far resulting in a long torso but it actually was something i was going for because i look up to Hyung Tae Kim. But then i realized that u cant distort until u know proper anatomical proportions so first i have to learn to draw proper people and experimentation comes later.

more practice from photos ..the guy with the axe is sketched without any reference looking at that i guess i have improved a little, still a long way to go!!

i was watching feng zhu's video about inspiration and reference when suddenly a simple design popped in my head a simple circle with C's on opposite ends also vertically opposite to each other .. now i might have played a game or watched a movie that might have had this design and it might be floating around in my subconscious mind but it just came to me at that time i paused the video and started drawing That is the firt drawing u see below

Cool designs for those space ships. They definitely look otherworldly. I was going to mention that you should be careful of your proportions when drawing your figures, but I think you already know that =] Nice stuff, keep it up!

its an endless learning progress I think that your design on the last ones and the still life studies u have done is nice. I like that ur pushing yourself and drawing alot. Dont forget hands. They are tricky but start out with bridgeman or loomis. I struggle myself with that but the more u do it the more u like it.

@ ninaren - Thanks :] .. i do suffer alot when it comes to hands so i did some practice !!

These were done with very little idea on how to draw hands

    Name: IMG_1151.jpg
Views: 722
Size: 488.0 KB

These were done after watching a video tutorial on youtube!
hands are fun now that i know how to construct a base for them!!

theres this site "steambotstudios" which has a great tool "3CH" which runs on some algorithm and creates random sentences which are actually quite cool ideas for speed painting.
    as they say:
"3CH is an easy-to-use software to generate crazy ideas for your speed paintings. It has been originally programmed by hydropix with the creative participation of Vyle, Barontieri, Viag and Sparth." ~ steambotstudios

i think for this one it was if i remember correctly the idea was "Black/Dark destruction in space moving towards a fish"
i was in my office and all i had was a pencil and paper. so this is how simple i could make it!!!!

and again i had some free time to do something quick [been watching zeng zhu's videos lately so i guess thats where this comes from]

Hey! Thanks for the getting well message and for stopping by on my SB wow u have been busy! u improved when it comes to hands and the bone study with arms and hands are just great!
I think its great that u practise different emotions (something I should do too ^^)
The creativity u have when it comes to ships and mechanics are awesome so keep em coming (me on the other hand have major problem when it comes to mechanical drawings) ^^
I also like the full figure girl that u drew but her head seems abit small compared to her body. Great study and drawings. Looking forward to see more I really like your energy.

I havent been able to draw and upload something new since I just settled down in the hometown Nothing special going on just more options for me to get a part time job at the side at my drawing practise. Nothing fancy just something to help pay the bills and also my need for more art book
Also Big thanks for the input. I noticed it now and you are so right Its so easy to get abit blind when you are sitting infront of something without taking breaks
