    Icon Soupandbutter's Old Sketchbook

I finally decided to make a sketchbook so I could get some much needed crits and feedback.
I will try to update every day or 3. I would post alot more right now but I don't have a scanner and I just started digitally

ello, S&B, i love it when people start up new sketchbooks this piece is very neat, i often use the RSS function to see new updates to the site and this was the only piece that invoked any sort of emotion in me (kinda feel mean to say it, but there's just too much anatomically-awkward-anime getting posted at the moment), leastways the only piece i felt like responding to. oh, and if you want to have your avatar as your SB thumbnail, you need to make sure its the only file you attach in your first post. host the first image you have here on photobucket or something like that and use the image tags to share it here, so as to avoid the hassle of arranging your attachments so that the right one shows up. keep posting, i'll try and come back now and then and see how youre shaping up

If your wondering why I am doing alot of mermaids is because I’m giving myself a theme and drawing off it for 1 or 2 weeks then doing a orthographic of my favorite mermaid or scene concept and modeling it in 3d. Next theme could be space or something. It may be a bad learning plan, time will tell.(or one of you)

haha these are great! why arent people posting? sheesh.. oh well, it'll just take a bit more time generating your noteriety on the site and for people to acknowledge you as for your latest work, the love scene was pretty darn cool. cant say it needed the little voyeur fish to be successful. personally, i'd like to see this one finished off. whats the subject for next week, may i enquire?

    MeTaL-Mike - Thanks!

stoph - ah.. you didn’t like the fish? ohh well, I guess they do sort of distract from the mood. I don’t think I’m going to finish the love scene, but I like the idea, so sometime later I think I will redo it(and without the fish just for you ). As for the next subject matter, I have no idea. You could give me a suggestion. It could be like the C.O.W topics, or somthing more broad like flying creatures or landscapes.

He would be the husband of the first long necked mermaid at the top of the thread if i was going to make some sort of story out of these.

I think my favorite one so far is the girl holding...whatever that is. A little seapuppy or something. I think that one has the most character. I probably glossed over it somewhere, but is there a reason all your artwork is sort of mermaidish? It is unique.

Hi Kerberos, welcome to my sketchbook. The reason all of my drawings are of mermaids is because in drawing them, I was hoping to come across a mermaid concept that I would like to use in a 3d project.

Anybody who is viewing this go ahead and give me your opinion on which drawing so far in my sketchbook you would like to see most in 3d.(I’m leaning towards queen mermaid because she would have the most bits to model).

    Anyway, the drawing for today:

your perspective figures are really really good. your angular lines are really growing on me. keep it up, buddy! i think you gotta do a fully rendered pin-up of one of your mermaids before you finish up on this topic

I like the sense of weight I get from your sketches, too.

stoph - Hi man, thanks for the compliment. I'm not sure what a pin up is. All I know is that it usually involves a scantily clad woman, right? I tried to render these next ones more.

LauraD - Thanks, I do love drawing cute things.

I'm sorry I missed a day but was away on a thanksgiving related trip and I just got back. I still don’t have time to draw anything so here is something that I made a little before I started the sketchbook, just to keep things in here moving.

    The good old days

Well I was trying to find my thread so I typed in soupandbutter in Google and when I scrolled down I found to my surprise an my deviant Art account! I totally forgot I had posted something before this sketchbook.

I always like it when other people post drawings they did when they were younger so here’s some of my best from when I was around 15 I think.
