Nice start man. ITs nice to see new guys starting SBs. The line work the portrait is nice , it could come out better if you push the values/contrast.When studying the figures first analyse always analyse try to know where the line representing the form starts, where it ends and how its goes from the starting to the finishing point. try not drawing before assessing these points. These words arent mine actually , but of the great michael mentler (BONE doctor)...I lie how you approach your colors man...
    Keep it up.

As lame as it sounds I recommend that you try to draw figures using construction techniques as well to add dimension to them. (boxes and cylinders)

    My sketchbook is here

bhanu > thanks for replying! the comments about the start to end sound a lot like point to point technique (i think thats what its called..).. man i havent studied that for years, maybe thatll help my lines from being so etchy =/
    thanks a lot!

softocean > when im drawing on paper, i usually do.. only thing is they always turn out wierd in perspective or something.. i cant get most parts of the bodies right, i'll draw some up in the next few days and show, maybe you can help me get it right? :]

friend asked meh to do a digital paint over of one of his 3d models for him, so i thought what the hell.. why not..

anyways heres a wip, i would love c&cs on this one :]
this time i stayed away from fuzzy brushes (like the last one) and im trying to use color and opacity to blend more.. i think its working out better then i thought it would..

I like your gun. Stop and put your tablet pen down. You proportions and anatomy are wrong and need tuning. You need to get a pencil and paper and begin studying anatomy. Also doing a lot of portraits will make you aware of accuracy on copying and even proportions.

problem is, i have to do at least two studies a day for slash.. and theres no way i can scan the pics every day, only way is to do it digitally so i can send it..

i guess i'll just have to get good at anatomy and my tablet at the same time =/
i do draw during school though.. lol

Take your sketchbook everywhere and do your studies at Home after your done with your homework. I took mines to school everyday. Some times teachers will get irratated of course and tell you put it up. Give them "I don't give a damn if you a teacher I will beat your ass if you touch my sketch book " look. (God I was a bad kid) It always works but you have to be passing the class in order to do so the teacher wont complain. Just Draw as much as possible everywhere if possible a day.

    okay micaiah :]

    heres three posemaniacs for slash..

    they go in this order

    1st - 2min, 20min
    2nd - 2min, 20min
    3rd - 2min
    3min

on the first one i was experimenting with how i wanted to do it, and ran out of time.. and on the very last one i kept screwin up on the perspective and stuff, so thats where i was when the alarm went off =/

    anyways c&c welcome

I would suggest getting an understanding of the human figure on paper in a sketchbook or pad first, do many loose gesture to get confident with your proportions and anatomy at the same time using the tablet. Draw from life or photos to help your understanding. I would definitely pick up an anatomy book to work from, many out there, bridgmen, hogarth, etc, just check them out and see what works for you.

yesterday and todays posemaniac for slash (they both have the same date because i dated yesterdays after midnight last night, stupidly..)

todays was especially hard.. i was trying to get rid of the habit of "petting" my lines.. aside from that the perspective seemed tough, so i dunno.. =/

    keep up the work!

i really think you need to work more on the internal forms of the figure more than just the outlines. I dont think you truly have a feel for the shapes in your pieces, they seem very "floopy".

but I applaud your use of posemanaics though
