Here's what I was doing while the forums were down

I like your value studies.

Here's another lifestudy

very nice studies! but everything you paint seems a bit too soft. I think a bit more of sharpenss would make your work look better.
Thank you, Lagarto. Yes, softness/blurriness is something I seem to have problems with. I'm trying to be mindfull about it.
Another one from life

Love how You simply and carefully do your beautiful studies. I only wish your pencil drawings were less pixelated. And some bigger work would be sweet too.
Thank you for your kind words, hu-ha.
You know, I kinda like the pixelated/digitalish look of them. Don't know why.
I actually draw them zoomed in, feels better somehow. As a result they turn out quite small at 100%. So I gotta resize either interpolating them or not. I prefer not to.
Here's kinda meh study from today

I don't know if is your style, but all your studies seems to lack some contrast, all the lights are neutral but it doesn't bother me to be honest...

I missed your heads. I love the realism and the line economy. I forgot if you do them from imagination or references?
Check your private messages... I'd like to see if we could work together on a project...
Thank you!
Yes, Leonor, I use reference. Yet I'm not trying to follow it too close. I use it like a starting point, something to inspire me, give me an idea. The drawing ends up being some sort of weird 'variation on a theme'. I guess you could say I'm drawing these heads both from reference and imagination
Here's a reference used for one of the drawings to compare
And another head

Hey, love the sketchbook, especially the heads. That said, here's my 2 cents of advice: your ellipses in
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...89#post3543889
and
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...99#post3547799
are a bit sharp on the edges. In the second one it could be the shape of the cup, hard to tell. But I think it's pretty clear in the first one, on the bottom corners of the object (which shouldn't be corners at all, but rather should curve up into the sides). Ellipses can be hard, but it can be helpful to practice drawing them on top of rectangles in perspective. Another helpful practice is just sitting down and filling a page up with quick ellipses. They come out best when you do them smoothly in one nice motion of the arm.
This article on ellipses (found, granted, with just a quick google search) seems to be pretty accurate to the best of my own knowledge:

Wish you the best in your endeavors!
