hey dude. looks like the mech stuff is starting to come a little more naturally now. Seems like you're having some problems covering the shadow areas; try a brush pen.

also: are you thinking about going to fanime? I was invited by a friend but I don't think I'd go unless I had sketch buddies.

Lake dude. the funny part is i have a brush pen but i always forget about it. i found that mechs are a lot easier when i have a point of reference and know a bit about how they're constructed. winging the design usually ends up in disaster, specially when it comes to the more complicated ones.

That jetplane is cool, push the contrast a bit more, especially saturationwise, maybe add some sunlight on the plane? Play around with layer modes, color dodge is great for some lighting enhancement, just overcome your shyness and experiment!

some pages from the sketchgroup in SF.
spacehips and stuff. Need to stir up the mix a bit now. they're really starting to look the same.
also need to figure out a good rendering style so i can start digitizing them.

Your figures are improving sir. Really like that first one of the latest batch. I really like one of those ships too and next time I see you I will point to it but it's too hard to explain which one via text

nonie yeah i can see how describing one of those ships would be rather difficult. Looking through that anatomy book helped, even if only on the basic level. I'll have to dig into it deeper and really figure out how lots of stuff is put together. Right now i'm still making up 80-90% of the anatomy out of my head, which i'm sure isn't helping my accuracy at all.

    moftah thanks

here's a page or scribbles (need to find a better pen that doesn't bleed through pages )
also a little more work on that jetplane. still not happy with the overall composition, but it's at least a little better from where it was.

I like where the jet piece is heading, it has a good defined direction from the other version further up the page. Nice gestures drawings, those are always fun. Keep it up!

Those are some interesting ship designs. Personally, I think itd be badass to see your best and most refined ships all together in a hanger painting....

boy did you miss out on a fun weekend. Spent 90% of the time drawing in SF.
Awesome times, good company, and a Sean Barber book signing. so in case you weren't aware, go pick up his book NOW it's just that good.

    here's the spoils---

1-4: figure drawings 5min gesture to 20min poses

5-6: sketches from the weekend, train doodles and just screwing around

7-10: new story i'm working on, it's about love, and robots.

    enjoy, thanks for stopping by.
