    Hey Mark,

Nice life drawings, I see some hands and feet in there! Thanks for the advice on light sources and highlighting, I never really thought about that way.

Quinn Simoes thanks man. i like the progress your making. as for life drawing... it's commin along, i feel like it never ends. HA.

    ------------
    spaceship update. still rather rough.
it's not looking as epic as i want it. I'll probably add more little ships in here too so that i really get the scale i'm going for more visible.

I think you are getting the right idea with your latest technical sketches. They just need a bit more depth. Nice figure studies also...

Heya :] the figure studies are great keep `em coming. Your spacecraft remind me of those from that game homeworld? remember it? i think there`s some concept art from it on the net you should google it for sure.

cout<mecha thanks for the imput. really just workin out shapes right now. i'm going to add volume to the ones i like. probably gonna hit that up after a couple more pages of doodles

Mattinian yeah i think i've seen some of the stuff from homeworld, i'm really trying to keep the designs uninfluenced right now so i'm limiting the amount of space stuff i look at... which is kinda hard considering i'm kinda a sci-fi nut. Taking inspirations from armor, guns, etc. I guess that's probably what a lot of people do with ship design, oh well.

    -----------------
    more ships
mini project i been mulling over. did some color then decided i needed to rework the grayscale, so that's what you get.
    more figures tomorrow.... hopefully

these ships are the best batch yet. I suggest trying some new things; some more organic or curved forms. Obviously you have to keep a lot of things uniform to push the "tech" aspect but to have one or two fluid elements would make these really strong.

the third page of ships has the best balance of these three - and they're the most versatile. More like that plz.

Lotet haha. thanks. yeah those ones were fun, i got more drunk as i got down the page so the lines really did whatever they wanted. ... maybe i should do a glove project next. MAYBE?? actually that's not a half bad idea. sweet!

Lake i agree with you on that one. definitely going to have to explore that shape language more.

    ----------
what was that about shape language?

now these ships are looking AWESOME.

The sketch on the right is good but it's getting overpowered by the background - use something a little less busy so we can concentrate on the design!

bg needs to be darker; the midtone is matching up pretty heavily with the ship. Either that or plain white but then you wouldn't get the engine glow.

definitely was trying to think as little as possible.

i'm liking these little dorky, stubby, short, fighter jet things. they're just stupid looking enough to merit developing
