Before I scan some more, a few quick PS sketches. I feel like I've neglected the digital media too much until now. If I ever intend to do anything concept-ish I'd better become more confident with it. Right now, that isn't the case, especially when working with colour.

More sketches. I went to the zoo during my vacation, to sketch animals from life, but I didn't pick the right day it seems. It was mildly raining the whole day long, so I had to wait for the rain to stop for a while before I could sketch anything. Besides that, all animals were extremely lazy, snoring in some corner where you could hardly see them. The first is the only worthy sketch I made that day, done in a few seconds, because the lion only sat still for so long. I rendered it a bit further afterwards.

You rendering, pencil or ink is very good! Very detailed and a good understanding of lights and shadows. I really like the artistic pieces you do like the dripping red colors (trees?). Nice work man!

Wow, thanks for the kind responses! I love to get down to the details, but lately I've been trying to get a little looser in my lines and such. Somehow, I've always found it much harder to keep things spontaneous and flowing than fleshing out every possible detail, and to be honest, I often like the more spontaneous end results better. Still, there's nothing as meditative and relaxing as detailwork.
These are, I believe, the last few sketches I still had lying around from this vacation. I've done some painting as well, but I need to find a good way to take photographs of them. I haven't had satisfactory results yet.

Nice!!!
Your inkings are fantastic.
Sketch page coming soon.
i like a lot of your pencil drawing......It's seems a little the pencil draw of Alan Lee......who did a sketchbook to "Lord of Rings"....
Keep going.......really great work!!!!
What's this, my sketchbook's getting popular?Thank you for dropping by, and encouraging me! I'm always a bit too hard on myself, seeing mostly the flaws and not the good things I've done. In a way that's good for motivation, but not for self confidence. Nice comments are the cure it seems!
Luciano Kassa, it's funny you should mention Alan Lee...I have the sketchbook you're talking about lying right beside me...up until recently I didn't know much of the man, but he's truly a master with pencils! Maybe some of it subconsciously crept into my own work! I fail to see the harm in that![]()
Been fairly busy today, because of the introduction to my new school, where I got to meet my future classmates for the first time. I'm getting more and more excited about this! All I have for this post is a half-finished sketch I started yesterday evening, and worked on some more during the 3 hours of travelling by train. When school starts I'll have to travel for that long every day, but hey, you gotta make sacrifices for your art. Besides, I'll have plenty of time to sketch, and models readily availableIt's not so bad.

Nice range of your studies you got there man, good stuff.
Keep it up!
Cheers!
So here I am once more...after being properly introduced to my classmates during a camp, where we got to spend some time together in creativity, I'm really looking forward to next week, when it's really going to start! For all the excitement, there's also a bit of nervousness...I always feel slighty uneasy when I show my work to others, you know, and I know it's only a good learning experience, but still...now I've really got to show what I'm made of, and being the pussy that I am, that'll be hard. Ah what the heck, I'll just let it come to me, and see where I get.
As with every post, here's another picture I'd forgotten to post...

A little update, quite WIP, but I feel this might just turn out very nicely. It started out as a brush test, fiddling around with some custom brushes. I want to keep it sketchy, only render the focal point to attract attention. See if it works for me...

Hey Yngwie!
awesome sketchbook !! I especially love your pencil characters.. your four admission assignments for the HKU are also especially awesome.. Mine kinda sucked hihi ^^
I really have to draw and update my SB.. Been so busy with my summerjob that it's been 1,5 month or so.
But the train rides give you much time to draw so we're going to have to use that, right? ^^
So.. Don't have crits at the moment. And I have to get going on school work and art material shopping.

You have a deft touch with the pen and pencil, and the products of your imagination are great. looking forward to more!
The greatest reward for me is when people look at my stuff and feel inspired enough to help me learn by harsh critiques, they will never fall on deaf or defensive ears and will be applied post haste! thanks in advance!

My Sketch Book!
Update time again! Well, sort of. I managed to scramble some things together: a digital speedie, and some scans I managed to make before my scanner shut out again (I hate the blasted thing!). I have tons more, school stuff done on large paper mostly. Have to find a way to photograph them decently. To come soon, I hope!
Thanks for all the comments too!

Hey there. I've checked your sketchbook from the beginning and you've shown some excellent improvement man! Your pencil sketches are getting particularly refined and everything is a pleasure to look at. Please keep it up!

I love that black and white ink drawing of the lobster creature. Your pencil rendering has also got me envious.
I'd say the biggest improvement since the first post are the faces. They seem to have alot more character to them now. Keep it up!![]()
hey man this some great work. keep it up
you have some fun work man
I love the variety in here too
rated you at 4 stars I hope it helps :/
keep going man
-=jedi=-
your sb deserves so many more stars. let's see if my vote doesn't help.
Just found the time for a minor update. Bad photographs & lousy sketches are all I have to offer right now. The collage is still very much WIP, but I thought I'd share it with you. If you can make out anything from that horribly blurry picture, that is. My camera doesn't work very well in the dark.
On to the comments, they seem to get nicer everytime! I appreciate it my friends. And yes Jedininjaman and TAsmith, those stars surely help!

I really adore your pencil sketches and your faces are coming along great! You do have string grip of your pencil, I love how you shade with scratching and not smushing the lines...
Keep it up!
Hi,
Good. i like all of it verry much. Great idears.
i get a great explosion of inspiration while watching your sketches and works.
Sebastian
VERY nice expressions!! I would REcommend Working at a variety of Thickness of pencils and colors, just to get it some definition and contrast.
Love to see more scribbles with a controlled hand![]()
