    Drawings by Ben : New work on page 2: Glowbugs Awaken + Organic Planet

    Hi guys an gals!

    New stuff added to page 2! Thanks for looking!

    The wind cut through the long grass as the souls of the dead wound through the night sky above. They had come to the Soul Tree, the place where all good souls travel to become one with the earth once more. For the bad souls who choose a different route, well - that is another story…

    * * *

    Here is a cover I drew for the recently released Candycreeps from Green Fairy Games, an RPG set in a twisted world where the undead have risen and live alongside the living - with a few genetically modified theme park mascots thrown into the mix too!

    I also got to produce 4 chapter pages for the book, I'll post one here, if you'd like to see the rest - along with the other excellent art in the book - you will have to buy a copy

    Then just to finish this thread off, here is a page of thumb print tribes people!

    * * *

    After all these months of hard scribbling I am very pleased to announce that my second comic adventure ‘Where Grows The Bitter Herb‘ is finished, printed and available to buy from today! ‘Bitter Herb continues the comic style established in Turtle Guitar, but readers should be prepared to embark on a longer journey through the unexplored world, to wild and wonderful environments meeting new creatures, some friendly and welcoming, some not!

    Here is a little picture of the cover:

    And here are some brand new sample pages, without the text getting in the way - these follow no particular order!:

    If your interested in picking up a copy Click Here.

    * * *

    Older stuff on the posts below!

    With Halloween getting closer, i've been doing some seasonal work over the last couple of days, so...Trick or Treat!!

    And here are some of the sketches/inks of Trick or Treaters for the above pic:

    - - - - - - -
    This is my short, 6 page comic entitled Turtle Guitar!

    I have removed the last 3 pages of Turtle Guitar to keep this thread manageable, if you would like to know how the story ends, please visit http://www.benpowis.net.

    Thanks very much for taking the time to look!

    Evocative, moody, fantastic.

    Wonderful style. I love the way you've tried to visualise the sound of the different instruments. Great imagination.

    Love this little comic strip! It has a gloomy yet happy feel to it...malancholic. It reminds me of these little comic/cartoon books I find in the back of goth clothing stores...they are the best....though yours ends happily...theirs often end with blood and dismembered little body parts...but you get my drift.

    I enjoyed the comic! Love the colours you've used and the line work has an original feel, great style. You should do more like this!

    Only one thing, watch out for those spelling mistakes in the comic text!

    Cheers,

    Cx

    sweet story, this has all the trappings of a classic, - i keep thinking of Moomins when i read it,
    nice simple flowing lines, textures, humour, unpretentious but clever delivery,
    earthy tones, I'm loving this, - if you can somehow flesh this out to include some kind of minor adventures of the character, or add another story to the end of this, in the same style, in the same world, you'll be onto a winner

    i'm saving your story for my daughter, she's not even born yet

    hey, do you think the turtle made some extra special tunes when the protagonist drove the stick up it's bum?

    Dear,
    Bhanu - Thanks again At the moment Turtle Guitar is being self published, by me, and it going to be making an appearance at various comic and book fairs/festivals around the UK over the next few months - I would love someone to publish it, or be interested in publishing future stories from the world...
    Insect666 - Thank you Its comments like this that keep us all drawing more
    Serpian - Thanks again mate, glad you like it!
    Troglodyte - Thanks for your comment, you have described exactly the 'mood' I was going for, which makes me very happy And gothy comics with dismembered body parts sound awsome!
    Chermilla - Thankyou for taking the time to look at my pictures! Im glad you liked it, there are more stories to be told from this world, thats all i'm saying - and ill keep a sharper eye for typos in the future, I type like a chimp!
    Gringoloco - Many thanks buddy, glad you like the book cover, Wilfred Owen is incredible.
    Mungus - Thanks! A few people have told me it reminds them of the moomins, that show used to scare the hell out of me what I was a kid! The story will continue to grow, perhaps not following the player, but the lives of other inhabitants of this world
    I'm honored that you would share the story with your daughter - I hope she likes it! And yes, The Turtle did make a most extraordinary noise, perhaps when I do 'Turtle Guitar - The Soundtrack' you will be able to hear it

    THANK YOU to everyone who has stopped by to look and comment, I can't thank you enough for the excitement your comments bring me, and the million little creatures in my head!
    I have added a new picture, and some sketches, to the first post, with a Halloween theme! Whhhoooo! Scary!!!

    Thanks chaps! Your comments are wonderful and very much appreciated!

    More work coming soon, but in the mean time, if anyone from Northern England is reading this, Turtle Guitar will be making a small appearance at the star studded and incredibly fantastic Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds, if your into comics or sequential art, this is the place to be - don't miss it!

    Thanks again for the comments and words of encouragement!

    cheers!

    Really refreshing style Ben, love the pen lines and colour washes. I can hear those chimes blowing in the wind. Thought the pieces with a musical theme were the best by far.

    Killer stuff. Love the unique style. The only part that falls a bit short is the building in the first piece. It seems to lack the same sort of graceful application of your style that the trees have.

    More please!

    Thanks very much for your comments guys

    @ Muttonhead - Your right about the building, I favor natural forms, I could draw trees all day never hurts me to shake it up a bit, although it does look a bit dull in comparison eh Thanks for commenting, I love your work
