Hey guys, i've been trying to train my eye for value and hue accuracy by doing daily speed paintings with references without color picking.

The landscapes were done with references from photo.net about a year ago.

The others have been done in the past month from the amazing trailers for Jesse James and Ocean's 13.

Thank you for viewing! I'll be posting more as they come along...there is obviously no shortage of inspiration when I look at the incredible talent on this site...!!

Hey man!
Great studies, very nice colors, they set a excellent mood and look true to the source. I should do some of these as well.
You should try going a little smoother on the edges, but then again these are speedpaints, great job.

did you use any references for the first couple??? they look great.. keep it up love your realism. awsome shading and lighting as well!!

Thanks man, I appreciate the comments. And yea, some of the strokes are really, really sloppy, something that i'm focusing on fixing from now on.

yup, references for the landscapes from photo.net, and the green one with the guy was inspired by a video from defasten.com...

Thank you for the kind words!...Although the shots already had incredible lighting before i did the speedpaints...And I'm willing to bet that Jesse James wins an oscar for cinematography!

...the guy's skills are superhuman and i'm sure the film is gonna rock.......I'm supposed to design the features of the main character. I tested out a different style for both of these, but will have to do quite a few more before i nail his character.

The third piece is my second concept art test that I decided to put up after the overwhelming amount of comments on my last post. =P

And one more character sketch for a film pitch. Nothing crazy, 1h30 min, no ref...mostly tried to play around with textured brushes.

First one is an abstract peice I did with my girlfriend to be turned into a 3D space afterwards.

Edited the faces for the priests that I just didn't like the first time around.

Color test on one of my marker drawings (originally intended for an avatar)
