    Barts (Tyler Bartley)

Hey there my name is Tyler Bartley, Im influenced heavily
by all the aspects of illustration whether that be, concept design,
editorial or whatver, i dont go too much on abstract art i'm
more of a realist. I'm probably most comfortable with pencils
as a medium but have been coming more into painting both
    digitally and traditionally with acrylics.

Here's the link to my sketchbook My sketchbook

Ok now onto the things that i really like

    - This is a painting done by an Artist called Kim Cogan and this piece just
rocks, the colour choices, the fact that he can create such a stong mood
within his painting is something that I really strive for in my work but yeah
    he just rocks it basically.

    - This is a painting by Steve Assael and this painting just kicks some
major ass, the skin tones are insane, the lighting just really makes it pop
I absolutely love everything about this painting, how maticulously the colour
choices for the skin are laid out I just love it.

    - This one is a painting done by James Jean, i really love his work so much
mood and emotion, hes never short of ideas and this painting just rocks, the
expressions on the face the subdued and desaturated colour scheme is just
    awesome, good compostion overall too.

Ok onto the things i hate

    - First up is 'Blue Poles' by Jackson pollock, i absolutely hate this
piece and it makes me even more angry to think the Australian
Gov spent all that money to buy it, ive seen it in the gallery and
i just cant find out what all the fuss is about i see no aesthetically
pleasing elements (for me anyways) at all,i just despise it.

    - The second one is by Kadinsky and i really dont like this picture
i could maybe tolerate some abstract or expreissionist paintings to
some point but i cannot stand this one, argh its just so damn ugly,
everything about it is just so poo.

I really like that one! What I like most about it is, is that you managed to keep the feeling/atmosphere of the photo in your drawing.

There are a few issues concerning proportion like the space between the eyes being a bit to large and the base of the nose witch is to narrow (maybe this is why the eyes seem to be too far away from each other) and I think you gave her a bit too much forehead, just a little bit.
one thing concerning value: Sometimes the values seem a bit muddy and dirty, try to establish them clearly.

Well that's all that I can see right now, and again: I dig how you kept this child-like and innocent feeling of the original, good work!

project at Uni, bascially based off how they reckon

physician so yeah here they are W.I.P's at the

    Week 3 Homework

    OK here goes
-What i wanted to focus on for my studies was how to apply
colours to the face, what parts of the face are cool and what parts
are warm, where can i put a green, yellow etc...., i used to be
really scared at putting colour onto my work, but this exercise has
helped me a great deal with the handling of colours on the face.
I must also appologise for the quality of my work, it's kinda hectic
at Uni at the moment, this is my last week and im finishing up a lot of
work, so yeah anyways here are my two studies of facial colour hehe
dont hate me too much...oh and also the 30 min portrait that i had forgotten
    to do from before
