    hey!
I like your drawings and your way of doing it.

The drawings you made from those photos are telling me to advice you to look more carefully for the photos and understand the forms and shapes.. Try to find the relations between the parts of the body and notice the distances between the most important points of the womans bodys

    keep on improving =)

Kanoodle: thanks for ze encouragement, creepface

Matsign: thanks, don't worry, I will never stop with the pretty girl faces, haha

Arbu: thanks for the crit, that's one of the things I'm working hard on...form and volume are my weakness

Another update, from reference - took me 2 hours and it's still a mess. I just got tired of working on it, so I guess I'll take my lessons learned and apply it to the next one

Edit: new one done in sketcher...it FEELS like I'm improving with colors at least

Biiig update from my sketchbook - found my old, old, old, old scanner and got some of these junks into my computer. Contrast had to be adjusted, and they ook a little yellow, bleh.

Edit: another speedpaint from tonight, colors and such

nice update, not lacking dynamism. . Yep, scaners do that frequently, adjusting levels works a bit better than contrast. Mine usually makes them brownish -_-.

Is the witch girl before the last image flying backwards?

    Hi serhc,

Your sketches are just topnotch! Seriously sweet line strokes. I like pretty much all of them. As for you paintings in photoshop try to study from real life
more. Just get something like a apple and take a long look at the colors and how they work. You'll get more mileage out of those then photos. Keep
it coming man! Mass potential here!

    Nice sketchbook man!
Just one thing I saw was that you tend to draw the arm very thin and sometimes to thin that it looks like its only bone.
    Keep up the good work

    Sketchbook
    All critics/comments are much appriciated

Renegade: thanks :] there's supposed to be a wind blowing forward, but I guess I've got nothing else to show that there's wind, so it's hard to catch. There's so many other things wrong with that picture anyway, it's just...bleh

Samantha: thanks for the encouragement I took a look at your work, I love it

Trashy: thanks for the suggestions! I'll keep the life studies in mind - I finally went and did the grapefruit/orange below at your suggestion

Max: thanks for pointing that out, trying to fix those strange anatomical quirks

Here's two more: doodling in sketcher, and a still life of a grapefruit. Doesn't quite look like one, but oh well, haha. All c+c welcome, colors and form perception are a bit difficult for me

some sketches from my newest sketchbook, one of those moleskine notebooks - also, something done for the art crusades thing. i might tweak it a bit later, to make the glowiness more apparent, but it's done for now

edit: got some crits, and the light goddess piece bothered me enough that i decided to go back and revise it. any thoughts?

bleck, are the colors moody? i realized after i did this that i've already drawn a girl like this, similar pose-look-clothes before, so... uhh, yeah...

The paintings are getting better loopero, but the thing about this piece is that, well pretty much everything except the shirt is the same hue slightly varied. if you have a warm light, for example red here, your shadow would have to be a cool color, complimentary colors usually work the best, but if you're creative you can find something that also looks cool. Make your contrast stronger aswell, the shadow on her has a higher saturation, and high brightness. UNLESS you're doing a shadow with reflected light or a glowing effect (which is essentially the same thing) you want to have a low brightness high saturation for shadow. You also forgot some cast shadows, the necklace, and the bottom of the nose. Try pronouncing the left cheek more, it kind of looks like it's going in, then out then kinda I'm lost. But yeah, drawing and painting more is the best crit I can give.

Really great stuff in here, you have got a nice style going, think you're doing the junks nicely, perhaps try working some more with contours to make the forms pop.

    Take care and keep updating!

seth: thanks guy, haven't seen you around much - are you still in sketcher much?

lotet: thanks, trying my best :]

tigermilk: thanks for the crit, i'll try it in my next one. i've really got a problem with creating depth and interest...i'm kinda scared of laying down bold colors, i guess

tried something graphics-designy? dunno how to classify it, but i tried to focus on composition. i think i mightve made it too busy - any thoughts?

    I love your stuff!!
So much flow and looseness, it's really terrific. I was going to comment that you seem to make the lower body too small for the upper body, but you seem to have been more careful with that in all your more recent pictures.

Can't wait to see more, mind if I subscribe?

your sketches are cool, but you never finish anything. it's really dissapointing. Spend more time on something and bring it to a full render. It's like you have all this untapped potential being capped by lazy.

you've got cool ideas, and rocking stylizations....now bring some stuff to finish! Don't make me go to jersey to break you fingers.

good luck with the studies dood, I look forward to some *finished* stuff soemtime in the future.

tex: hahaha, thanks yo. i'll try to make some finished pieces soon...turning those sketches that i like into a satisfactory painting is borderline impossible for me.

here's a more fully rendered piece i did today - copy of john singer sargent's rosina:

I learned that I too could take something to a finish when I started doing master copies, and just spend 20+ hours on something....it was a real kicker. Just stop worrying about how long you spend on something, you'll get faster as time goes on
