Hehe, nice Stikfa. Btw with your "sunset/moon" image... I definitely think it's the purple in the sky and on the branches that give the impression of sunset, not to mention how close to the horizon the sun/moon is.

And with your running animation, be careful not to have a bodypart in the same place for "two frames" or more... When the arms are close together in that animation, it looks like they suddenly stop for a split second before carrying on... I know it's just because they're swapping places sort of... but you should add a tiny bit more variation between those two frames so it looks like there's always movement going on. In a running-loop... a hiccup like that can be quite distracting.

    Thanks Blighty!

Ah I really do need to update my sketchbook more often (how many times have we heard that lol)

Thanks for the crits on the sunset/rise pic - I want to improve my enviros as I think it's an area I fall down on

With the running man - I agree! I was attempting to see how well I could make a run cycle without spending a lot of time on it - kinda a check of where I'm at. Something good to practice - now I have a YouTube account I can easily post animation tests when I do them which is cool.

Ah yes and mr Stickfa! I also have two Micromen figures boasting 30 points of articulation each and only 4 inches high - I have pics but just need to load them onto my mac and tweak them

And here's some of my latest WIPs from a commission I'm working on:

I really like that last image, with the monk trying to prise the gladiators apart. And Mr. Stickfa dancing between the headphones made me laugh!

Sorry I haven't submitted any new stuff myself lately. I've been busy with my new job, trying to claw my way out of it into a better one, and swearing at my computer because lately it's been suffering from constant freeze-ups and crashes >:C

Hey hey Triss - thanks for dropping by! Yeah I'm liking that image also - wasn't sure when I started on it as I was getting the interaction between them all wrong but it's really pulling together - here's the latest of that one

sweet stuff man. just a crit on the first pic from post 332, it may help to overlap the characters a little more so that we can get an accurate sense of depth. on first glance, it looked like the gladiators were giants and TM was a tiny dude. moving some part of him behind the fallen dude could help that. g'luck man, keep using your art to make God known.

The gladiator scenes are both looking really good. I have one crit for the one in post #334. I feel that the perspective view of the background does not quite fit the perspective on the characters. I figure that the arena wall should be taller then the fighters? right now it looks like it's only 1- 2 foottall.

    happy drawing

hey DHT - Not been slacking so much as not enough energy/time to post art on CA for a while - that pic you mention is part of a commission of 12 images for a story.

When I have a bit of time I'll upload the update to it!

Thanks so much for dropping by and posting!

Once I have more energy etc i'll be posting more art!! I want to start the Dynamic energy challenges again too!

love the perspective in the last one, i really like it, like too much, it's great!
my only crit would be to use more colors on the bg elements, and more tones, the values on the grass for example, are way too monotonous, i know this is old, but check em out on b/w

thumbs up man, loving these images you are making

    God bless! and keep rocking!

Hi DHT - thanks so much for the crits! I was calling that pic done but I may have a look at adding some tone variation in the field etc.

Hey GoGoJojo - welcome to my sketchbook and thank you!

I've tweaked the perspective on the approaching Rome pic as the city was kinda slanted a little too much!

Few happy birthday toons I've done for GogoJojo

And here are a few pics from that Telemachus The Monk commission (finished - client v happy which is always cool) - I've only uploaded one full size as not sure how easy it would be to view for those with smaller screens! A lot of fun to work on in an interesting style - arty yet comic like with an element of cartoon that's serious but ok for all ages!

The 12 images will be projected onto a big screen as the client narrates the story (story can be found here: http://exposistory.wordpress.com/200...he-gladiators/ )

Cool SB. I like the Gladiator stuff. Although I think the one where the guy is walking towards the city could use some atmospheric perspective to give it a bit more depth
