Couple of lil cartoons I've done to ease the pain of a good mate who just got YLOD with his PS3 - used the old hair dryer to fix the solder long enough to backup trick - lets hope his PS3 hangs in there long enough!

Ho hum! may I present my version of 'Chloe the curly necked giraffe' (they wanted something a little like Disney style):

Chunky plane ftw. You're good at dropping your lines down in a few swings, nice to see you mid-work.

    Thumbs up VERY usefull VIDEOS

WOWOWWOOOW, I loove your stuff bro. It's kinda hard to find people with comic
backround in here, but I am always very excited when I find folks like me kinda
    version.

I looove your YOUTUBE channel so what kinda Illustrator version do you use,
I really could not be friends with Illustrator cause I do more animation so it is
inconvenient for me to take the AI file to FLASH

I am using a cintique21UX do you know which AI version will work fine
    with that !?

But it would be good if I would know it cause it's such a powerful tool and I love
    vectors.

Anyway hope to see you @ my SB

Great updates I forgot I had subscribed to your youtube channel and got an email with the camero drawing, I was like "who's greg?" then it clicked when I saw the drawing I always wondered how you get such great lines, I don't have illustrator but it looks like when you draw freehand lines it automatically adjusts them to make them smoother...if this is the case, I'm getting me some of that

    Catch you laters

Hey thanks Iven an Angel! I'm currently using Illustrator CS3 and can't see why any recent version wouldn't work on the Cintique - it's well worth the investment and from testing a demo of CS5 it's even better! With animation have you looked into Toon Boom Studio/Animate here: www.toonboom.com it has a more animation focused workflow and is compatible with Illustrator

As far as lines go - yes you can set it to smooth your lines and there are various adjustments. Personally I prefer to set it up for as minimal auto smoothing as possible without having too many anchor points along the line (more points = larger file & more difficult to tweak). Something you may have seen in the vids is the pixilated lines while I'm drawing and then they go all smooth and nice once I lift the pen - this is simply a performance feature (I think this can be turned off?)

I plan to do a few tips n tricks videos explaining how I set things up for a more natural feel.

    Hehe Thanks Blighty!

Iven - hey you're welcome dude All the cars are drawn without ref or any prep sketching - just making it up as I go!

When you say seeing the sketch is on your wish list - which sketch do you mean?

Oh and yeah I checked out your site the other day - love the tutorials section! Really nicely set out to help anyone starting as an animator or artist - teaching how to put character into your artwork is a really important skill in my eyes!

Hey man, that's a rad car on your youtube channel (rad music too lol).
I hope you keep pushin forward with those life struggles!

I know what you mean with those abstract art lines. Nothing but scribbles right? yep, lol- when you really love art- you feel like drawing but nothing comes out lol! you say "oh well"- then you scribble the heck outta that page!
it's kinda depressin, but you gotta elevate to doing strategic daily exercises man! I quit that phase cause it was too depressing. Couldn't stay there lol- and I pray I never go back!

I also noticed that you mentioned about the bible in here somewhere. I assumed you're a believer?

if so, then awesome! another one lol. (you know, cuz it's kinda hard to find em in the art world)

well. IF I sound strange, then my apologies buddy!

    peace.

    Thanks Angel

Goodness the forums are all new and 'different' looking ... hmm *looks around with slightly perplexed expression*

Well mr 'Gorilla guy' has asked me to do 3 more illustrations he liked the last one so much! Chimps in a box and an Orangutan sorting nanas! Also a work in progress of a larger piece

So yeah I'm still alive - wow seems weird not to be active on CA that much any more ... Really hoping I can find my 'oomph' again ... oh and YouTube approached me about monetizing my videos! I had no idea I had enough views for that yet... but just wish I felt inspired enough to make something from it!

    Keep rocking on my friends

Damn! Nice work! I'm not surprised he came back for more, and monkeys look like fun to draw. Good luck finding your oomph, did you look under the couch cushions? I found my oomph recently revisiting some old fairy sketches I did years ago because I can't paint in photoshop (stupid incompatibility problems with my wacom) anyway enough about me there, I shall check out your video now keep it up!
