    Some Stuff (update)

Hey guys! I've been lurking around the forum for a few years, getting inspired and what not. Finally worked up the courage to post. I graduated from school just a few months back; majored in Illustration and am switching gears to focus on concept art! Hope you dig the work!

Toss me some of that sweet constructive criticism.

The white line around the gun is bothersome; I think you need to learn to effectivley differentiate edges using value, instead of using line to hide that. It would add so much to that character.

Wow, great use of colors. I don't really have any real criticism for you. The ONLY thing I can think of is I think it would be cool to maybe see some sort of expression on the knight's face. But awesome work!!

These are really nice. Interesting shapes and designs.
But i think the first one needs more depth. The two characters seem to be on the same plane because the confusing floor and the same value kept, but the difference between their size makes us think of the contrary...or maybe i'm wrong on that one.
Your stuff on your blog is amazing !!

    MikeMitchell- Sup brother, thanks!

Jason Snair- Thanks yo, haha, I'm overly shy about my work! But I'll try and become regular with posting work.

Justin Oaksford- I see what you mean. Contrast gets a bit wonky in some of my work which usually I mask with the use of lines. It's sort of a taste issue to depending on what you prefer. But I could have handled it so the white line was a little less obnoxious haha.

TheMadPaddy- Ya know its weird if I'm doing sequentials I'm ridiculously concerned with facial expressions due to the dialogue and events taking place but when I work out Illustrations I go semi-retarded and don't pay as much attention to the expressions as I should. I'll have to brake that bad habit.

DanielC- I see what you mean, I had some trouble with the overall depth of the piece and my color choices usually tend to flatten things out a bit. Glad you dig the blog!

    awooldri- Lions rule!

Gax- My work tends to stink of Japan. haha I'm a big fan of woodblock prints and ink scrolls and such.

The queen is really cool. This one really shows off your skills, more so than the other ones (which were pretty good too).

I like the bizzare and imaginative embellishments on her gown. I'm also digging the air of authority she's got on her face and in her posture. The wrinkles in the dress, particularly at the bottom, could be polished up, and the background is a plain flat color. Perhaps you can you could change up the backdrop a little, something with a bit more texture or something?

    lookin good.
