    Idas sketchbook

Greetings and thanks for looking! I'm new around here, this is my first sketchbook and i'd love criticism on everything I draw/paint. :-)

I am an 18 year old girl and I wish to become a concept artist.

Welcome to CA IdaS! Your work is very good!
I really like the dragon and the crocodile especially.

You seem to have a great grasp of form and how to express it interestingly with lines.

I look forward to seeing more of your work! Keep on posting!

Hello again! This evening I wanted to play with colours. It's a moray eel, I love those. Please, tell me what you think and be honest!

@ Brandon: Thank you! I love reptiles too, they're so awesome.

    I like your color studies!
They are very nice, and I like seeing your style in a more painterly form.

The only thing that really catches my eye is the colors are a bit to vibrant and neon for my taste.
But if neon is what you were going for than that is great.

Keep up the good work! I want to see you post here more often!

@Greyskill: Thank you! I see what you mean with being too neon and vibrant. The next time I practise colouring I will try to give it a more.. Nature/less bright colours.

Tried to do the 30 - 90 sec practises with Posemaniac.

Good work so far, love the sketched dragon, really nice gesture and flow, also I like the tickness of the neck and limbs, it makes it more imposing and feral!
Keep training with posemaniac, it's a great tool for loosening the gesture on the human figure!

    Thanks!

I practised a little more with posemaniac.

    Continued on the dragon.

Also I tried to think of a mermaid, turned out to be an ugly/old moray. I still don't know what to do with the arms.

keep doing those studies! but don't just try to copy them without knowing what you want to learn from it. Also I suggest doing something quick from mind after each study, using things you learned from the study.

Jeg ka godt snakke dansk men er ikke særlig go til at skrive det

    Mange tak!

Lige nu øver jeg mig på at farve og anatomi. Tusind tak for tippet!

PS: Jeg synes du er god til at skrive dansk. ^^

Your figures are great and I love your bright color schemes! Do you have access to live models to draw? I've found that it really helps inspire me to really get anatomy down when there is a real person in front of me.

@Telephonoscope - Thank you very much! I don't have any live models except my parents, but I have a lot of books, magazines and stocks which I study.

    No problem!

Would your parents or friends mind if you did quick sketches of them while they were sitting and watching the television or doing some other random thing that caused them to sit or stand still for a few minutes at a time?

Also, just sitting on a bench in the park or at the mall is a good way to draw people walking by. It forces you to do very quick gestural studies that are really good for loosening up.

    Nics sb you got here.
Great apple study, nice values on this one.
Keep up the anatomy sketches and try to have different kinds of lines on a drawing to be more dynamic.
    Keep up!

I think you have a lot of cool sketches in your last post. Your colors are also getting very nice. And maybe most important of all; you draw really nice hands!
Please take the time to give me some constructive criticism in my Sketchbook
