    Last paintings - update P.3 (5.4.2008)

    Hi all,

Here is some of personal work i've done in my free-time.
I discovered SP very late, watching some pieces from barontieri, kinnunen, m@ and many others, then i decided to improve my photoshop abilities threw that way.
I hope u will like some of them,

    all the best,

    mGn+

I like these a lot. How long has it taken you to complete each one?

Is there any way you can tell me how you manage to create such depth?

I also like the tank one with the soldiers, am I right that it's just black, white, and shades of grey? Nice job!

Very, very, very impressive work. I have to say your photoshop skills have certainly become something wonderful. Depth only a pro can create time and again.

Wow, i am very impressed. This stuff has so much mood and emotion. Very atmospheric. Great stuff, I'd like to see more! i'd be happy to make something look like that in a very time consuming painting, nevermind speed. kudos

    Hi guys
thanks for your support and your great comments !

mike > fore the first one, it tooks me about 2 hours and for the second one about 1h.
The picture with an infantry tooks me about 10 hours, this is an illustration i've already posted here a few weeks ago.
The 4rth picture , about 2 hours, the fifth 1 hour.
Picture n°6 is based on the picture n°4, and decided to put off water and create a mountain city... not really original i know...This one is a crop-result of the original one which was in horizontal format.
Finally, the last one tooks me about 30 min...

Depth > am working my picture as same as many people i think, background to foreground

    See ya

These are good, they have a very broad painterly feel. I really like the one on the top and the last one on the bottom is good to, even though it is a little dark, which might have been what you were going for, although i would like to see a little in the bottom foreground.. but, hey, that's just me. Good job.

For speedpaints these are great, a good sense of location, scale and character. I'd love to see some recordings of these, any chance of you doing a time-lapse vid of your future SP's?

Great images. I especially like the textures and wires in the first one. The wires add almost a claustrophobic feel to it.

    hi people,

thanks for your support, i didn't expect such a good reception and coments.
However, i think some of my pics lack of details and are a bit empty...I'll try to get more in details next time.

Every new thread here is an incredible way of motivation. Thanks to Ca.org for this.
    now, let's speedpaint !

    See ya,

and keep break'n out my eyes guys !

Beautifully atmospheric. I especially like the soldiers and tanks in the snow - makes me feel cold and scared. I'd love to see more.

    Hi everyone,

Here is my last personal piece, another war illustration i've done for a personal project.
My goal on this one was to paint a huge drama scene, focused on feary light set and soldiers.
Blacks are inevitably for me, and a lot existing.
    - bad english -
After that, you could see a WIP of this piece, showing you how my mind ordered my sty-pen. Also, you will see that i really don't know where i go ...

So i hope you'll like it,

cheers and all the best for all,

    mGn+

PS: this illustration was realised for the same project than the one with soldiers + tank + snow ...

( i edited this picture with a new foreground contrast...)

    sweet!
i think you need more fog in the mid-ground to better define the guy in the foreground and also add more depth to the image.
Right now he is getting lost in all the darkness.
Really i think the second to last thumb is better balanced and therefore stronger than the final.

That being said great mood brushwork.

Killer style. I absolutely love the snow soldiers one.

One critique though, some of these images are so dark that it is hard to pick up on everything in the composition. The one with the step-by-step is particularly hard to see the figure. A little more definition around the character to make it stand out a bit would have really made that illustration pop.

Great job, nice work, and hope to see more.

Love this last on. My only concern is that the closer buildings seem to insinuate that they are much higher than the spacship allows them to be. It seems like the ship is actually sitting on the rest of the city.
